My son has bad eyes like me. The money is going to pay off those night time{sleeping} contacts. There is %80 change they will arrest his vision so that it won’t get any worse.

If you haven't done your tax return for last year, get it sorted ASAP to get the payment, then contact the ATO.

I still haven't got mine, but am very pissed off that a friend who is a stockbroker on 150K a year got a payment when he shouldn't have.

Nothing yet, but only getting $600 as I understand. That is the only payment the family will get from either package.

I am a little upset that alot of this cash will go overseas (for holidays) when the whole point is to spend it in Australia.

Oh, and we already spent it (and more) on a new camera (new Canon Powershot that also takes full HD video).

Did you guys receive a letter first, or did payment go into your bank accounts via direct deposit? I got the letter two days ago, but it still hasn't been deposited into my account as of this morning? The letter states that if you use a tax agent, they will pay it on after a couple of days, no doubt after they have made some interest as it sits idly.

Eh. I'm upset that the payment is being made at all. And it's effectively coming from overseas (given it's putting the budget in defecit, so people like China are basically paying for it as a loan)

I received my letter on the day or the day after I got my deposit. Basically if you had your last tax return paid by DD, you'll get this the same way. If not, cheque. And as you mentioned, if you went through an accountant/agent, they'll probably have it. Hopefully you haven't got one that will take a fee (which they have no right to do).

As for the money going overseas thing - I'm with simmo in that it shouldn't have been taken to begin with. Though it is supposed to be money we're getting refunded, not money they're taking from elsewhere.

And my plans to take my money to the US? Looking highly unlikely now with W.H.O moving up the pandemic alert to 5 out of a possible 6 for Swine Flu. I won't even be able to leave the country soon. Can't risk that - and I'd have to postpone my trip til August next year. Sad
