Some of the collection....

Post by fuzzcat on Fri Mar 20, 2009 5:27 pm

As I get each new case form Ikea (god bless the Detolf), I put a little bit more out... I hope these pics work...

Note the gap near Hawking - that's where Frink will go once I get new one....

The Robot Santa in the background still needs the parts from King Bender and Captain Yesterday - I'll get around to it someday. And yes, I managed to get my Zoidberg!

And the study - there are bits and pieces around the place (AT-AT on filing cabinets, ML Icons Beast on the desk) - I got bored on Wednesday and decided to put some bits and pieces out - most of it I opened, some I picked at random from boxes with loose figures in them. All of these will end up in cases eventually....

Just one more leg to get for Grodd then he's done too

I'm rather impressed at how the scale of the 2 lines (DCUC and DCD) is fairly close - I always upgrade a character if a better version comes out, so I'll be palming off a DCD Grundy, Mr Miracle, Lobo and Starfire reeeal soon.

Are you hoping to get Detolfs for all your figs?
Gonna be pretty pricey.

Great setup. When you say cases you mean display cases and not storage cases though?

Yeah plan is to slowly get detolfs for most of it - except for SW and LOTR, which I might see my brother in law (a cabinet maker) about - I know it's going to be expensive, but I'm in no rush.
YJ - that is display cases, not storage - like everyone else, storage at the moment is what ever boxes I can fit it in :S

Looks like you could do with some rises for the figs in the detolfs though, specially the simpsons

Yeah I had a similar problem with my collection. Tiered-risers/stands definitely allow you to make the most of your available display space. I ended up making my own since I couldn't find anything locally.

The Stand I used for the kubriks on the top shelf is just a cheap spice rack I picked up from Howards Storage World.
I was looking all over for something like that and ended up finding it in a kitchen shop of all places.
Its good cause it can extend out, that pick has it at full extension.
I got mine from the HSW at the logan hyperdome, might pay to give em a visit.

I just used some 145 x 45 pine and painted it white, works perfect for 6 inch scale figures.
Cost me nothing as i stole it from work.

Very nice collection! I love seeing all the MOTU like that. For risers etc, I just used off cuts of timber I had around the place. In one of my displays, I have plastic drinking cups holding up a shelf at the rear.
