WOLVERINE ORIGINS (comic series) @ Target!

Post by MAN on Wed Mar 11, 2009 12:18 pm

hey gang,

these are out at my local target. it's the comic series 3 3/4 inch figures. the figures i saw were:

-wolverine yellow costume
-wolverine brown costume
-gambit
-maverick
-logan
-wolverine in this swat outfit
-deadpool
-sabretooth

umm, i think that's it.

only picked up deadpool. they're $13.59 today, it's the last day of their 20% off sale...tomorrow they'll be around $16+.

quite happy with the deadpool, still a bit erked about deadpool not looking like the comic version in the movie..but whaaattaya gonna do.

Toy World Myer Centre had most of them (I could not find Maverick) for $16.99 (ouch). One of each of the others on the shelves. I did not buy any.

Happy hunting.

wooohoooo Deadpool scored, and quite a good number in the pack outs...might grab another few to finally be comfortable in making his extra outfits without defiling one of the Marve legends ones.

At an okay price I was so tempted to get these, had maverick and a few wolvies....put em back...but the packs make me wanna buy!

Giant Sai HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Hmmmm well after opening....what stands out most is...LITTLE!!! Its like a feeling of Hasbro sayign put deadpool in your pocket....take him everywhere.

articulation is pretty good, ankles are balls I think, but range sucks. Like the ML one he comes iwth heaps of accessories.

Out of all these toys this looks to be the one to buy. If you like Deadpool its a must have, if you need some plastic crack...buy him. IF you have Joes and want some cool new characters, buy him. Its great we can put these with Joes.

I really wanted to like this scale...but it seems too small I feel like an adult playing with a kids toy rather than an adult with an mature persons action figure. The novelty of having something new like this on the shelves almost made me buy others, but I am glad I didn't. Its not a yearning for Marvel legends or some whimsical love of Toybiz, its that the scale jsut got too small for my liking.

Deadpool 8/10 (ignoring the scale 9 1/2)

No luck at my Targets today, typical, also on another note, on ABC they have Wolverine and the Xmen at about 8am on Sunday mornings if I remember correctly, kick ass cartoon and not as cartoon as other series. Def worth the early wake up call.....

Saw these last night. So small...so, so small. I know they're meant to be in the same scale as Joes and SW but to me they looked even smaller and gimpier.
I'm not ruling out acquiring them completely but yeah.....small.

gambit, weapon x, dead pool are the only ones that look any good. but the $17 price point is the most ridiculas thing i've ever heard of! $10 and i would of started collectiing these guys due to shelf space saving. just remember, hasbro stuff seems to drop to around $3 at target in six months time.

Yep saw these, not bad. Deadpool was the best. The bodies were OK but the head paint apps wa bad, result of the small size. Again, way to expensive.

Re: WOLVERINE ORIGINS (comic series) @ Target!

Post by Xenaphobia on Tue Mar 24, 2009 4:02 am

Also spotted these at Target. They were a very easy pass.

The articulation is semi-decent for the size (especially given the general move away from articulation in recent times), but the sculpts and paint application were generally ordinary to terrible.

At least most of the Wolverine variants appear to actually be true "variants" and not just re-paints, although I was a little surprised there didn't appear to be a "true" movie Wolverine with metal claws (jeans, white shirt, leather jacket). I guess they're saving that one for the second series.

Cheers.

Re: WOLVERINE ORIGINS (comic series) @ Target!

Post by The Iceman on Tue Mar 31, 2009 11:20 am

Heads up guys for those collectors that are interested in the Wolvy Origin figures they are in the K-Mart catalogue out Thursday for 20% off which makes them $13.59 each. This post is for those that are interested and not meant for anyone who just wants to bitch about the size and cost of them. The smaller scale Marvel figures are here to stay because that is what Hasbro does so if you like them buy them if not don't. Start a seperate thread for bitchin about it.
Having said that if Marvel Legends come back new and improved I will once again be spending my money there.
The smaller scale figures do open up the option of display scenes of which I have done some. I would like to have a step by step instructions of how to down load them on the site. Any chance of them being posted. I tried Sweetest's guide but couldn't get it to work.

Thanks for the heads up Iceman!

These are also out at Big W for the same price as the Marvel Universe figures, $16! Caved in the other day and bought a yellow Wolvie...

Considering picking up a Gambit and Brown Wolvie at K-mart, why do they make Gambit look like Michael Jackson? He got that weird nose and poppin cheek bones.

Thanks Icey, but I still feel people have the right to get peeved with these just as much as singing their praises, just like they did when Hasbro took over, or even if they chose one head for a character over another.

As for uploading the images of dioramas, while I don't know if Ozfigrama can upload to be based on the forum, you can use file hosts. If the images are not way big www.tinypic.com, can at least host a pic and you can email them to those interested, or I am sure someone has a proper image host account.
