watching season 4 of Big Love, season 2 of Being Human and season 9 of smallville now Very Happy hanging out for the return of V in march

might have to check out sparticus again, I thought the first episode was full of gratuitus (sp) sex, swearing and slow mo so if they've toned those down a bit it might be worth it!

Re: Sparty: Blood and Sand and Sex and Swearing

Still plenty of gratuitous sex (although to be fair, most of it does reveal something or other about the characters involved) and swearing (I've never heard c*ck said so many times in 40 minutes in my life - I think I was blushing). Slow motion is definitely better and the climatic fight scene in the third episode was a thing of beauty. The first episode is definitely the worst and, as noted, it just keeps getting better and better from there.

Cheers.

I like Spartacus a lot, I have done since watching the first episode, and it really is a show that seems to be going from strength to strength. And I've gotta say, I also don't find it gratuitous at all to be honest.

They are using language in the same way that Rome and Deadwood did, as a means to try and set it apart from modern vernacular, and also to differentiate the different classes, though admittedly not quite to the same level of artistry as those two shows managed to do. At least not yet anyhow.

Sex and nudity wise, again that is in character to the time period being displayed. Hell, if anything its toned back from the reality of the age. Can't say it bothers me at all, and again, nor do I find it sensationalised or gratuitous personally.

The violence is overly stylised, sure, but the brutality of it is accurate and well portrayed, and you can see them refining the way that the violence is shown, getting the balance between the stylised elements of slow motion and digital bloodletting, and the real life elements of fight choreography and the energy of the scene to blend more successfully and satisfyingly.

So, yeah, this show is definitely sitting high on my must watch list each week now.

I have been recording band of Brothers (I have never watched it before) which is on 72 late.
I am really enjoying it, every episode is like Saving Private Ryan, it certainly give you an appreciation for what the soldiers did in the war. I hope I never have to go.
Also they have been advertising "The Pacific" which is about The war in the Pacific, Japan, Australia US etc.
I mean the effects in Band of Brothers is real enough imagine now with the technology how good the battle scenes will be in The Pacific!

Yeah BoB was an awesome series and was my first Blu-ray purchase ($50 at JBs). Really looking forward to The Pacific - a theater of warfare that doesn't get as much coverage as the campaigns in Europe and Africa. My old man is a big John Wayne fan so he's been chomping at the bit since I showed him the web trailer.

As for my recent viewing behaviour - I've been watching Human Target, SW Clone Wars and Steven Seagal: Lawman.

What's Steven Seagal: Lawman like? Is it even remotely as entertaining as one might hope for, or is it pretty much just your standard desperate celebrity reality show?

Yeah it's OK but it's not as dangerous as COPs or Dog. I always have a chuckle when he references his years of martial arts training as well as when he goes into his "crime detection" mode - imagine Spidey senses crossed with black and white and Max Payne bullet time. BTW, the mofo can shoot a pistol - hot damn.

V is on Nine this Sunday 8.30pm!
My wife is even more excited about this then me. Last night she said we have to watch it and record it so that we can watch it again. I laughed at her and said I think that you are a bigger Sci-Fi Geek then me.

I've actually been watching My Kitchen Rules. I thought it'd be shit when it first started but it was quite interesting. Missed most of this week's eps as I've been going to bed before it starts, but my mum is giving me updates Razz

Also randomly have gotten interested in Brothers & Sisters after managing to be in front of the tele when others are watching it, so now I'm going to have to start from the beginning.

I watched V as a 10 or so year old and freaking loved it.
I liked the new one on last night too. Just gotta suspend my disbelief a bit to look past a couple of plot-holes but it's pretty good.
Morena Baccarin is not as hot in this as she was in Firefly but I'd still swap her for my missus in the blink of an eye.

^^^^ 110% agree. Every single week is an improvement on the week before. I *need* to view ALL remaining episodes. Then I need season 1 to be released on DVD so that I can watch all the episodes again.

And I really hope that Andy Whitfield's cancer treatment goes well so that we see a second season. Such a shirty thing to happen, especially when he's playing an excellent role in a pretty well received TV series.

Cheers.

Not sure if it will get a release on free to air - quite a bit of nudity and gore (CG). It's currently airing on US TV so torrents would be the way to go.

I'm currently watching Human Target (based on the Vertigo series). I'm hoping it gets a second season as it's been pretty good. Also watching the usual selection - SW: Clone Wars, Supernatural, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Cleveland Show, Family Guy, Ultimate Fighter (season 11 just started), V and The Pacific.
