Re: Spartacus

Apparently Channel 7 has purchased the "edited" version of Spartacus with all the blood, gore, sex and nudity removed (instead including far more close-up shots, etc). Not sure if there is any truth to that rumour, but they are editing a more "family-friendly" version of the series for overseas distribution.

Cheers.

^^^^ Probably not ALL removed. Perhaps just edited to the same level as "Rome" (although I never managed to see that when it was on channel 9, but I heard they edited large chunks of it).

Wait and see I guess. Hopefully the DVDs will be available from US Amazon sooner rather than later. WITH all the "deleted" scenes which were apparently too "shocking" for TV.

Cheers.

From your reviews of Spartacus I will be buying it as soon as its on DVD.
I have recorded the Pacific but havent watched it yet. What was everyones thoughts on the Pacific?

Also recorded Flash Forward new eps, it looks like its been banihed to a later time slot. Thank God for PVR, otherwise I would miss out on some good programs.

I've watched all five episodes of The Pacific thus far. Good but not great would be my assessment at this half way point. It just seems to gloss over things a little bit too much, and feels a little bit 'by the numbers' in my opinion. It's solidly acted and handsomely produced, but just feels a little bit hollow and paint-by-numbers, pretty much hitting each war movie cliche along the way, but not really having much, if any, real dramatic impact. It's still worth watching, and occasionally has it's moments, but don't expect some grand television classic.

The season finale of Spartacus was fantastic...and quite possibly the most violent tv episode ever made. Laughing

Indeed. Super-fantastic. Fantastically fantastic. Someone needs to invent a new word to accurately describe just how fantastic it was.

Need season 1 on DVD! Such a glorious show needs to be re-watched ASAP.

Cheers.

Spartacus isn't shown locally (yet). And IF it ever is shown locally, I would expect it to be the "edited" version which TPTB are putting together for the international market. Still, I would expect the series to be out on DVD in all its un-cut glory long before we see the edited version down under.

Cannot wait for the rumoured prequel mini-series (fingers crossed for a Crixus mini-series) or at least season 2 once Andy Whitefield is fit and healthy again.

Cheers.

Well there's never much on local TV is there?

Thinking about buying these for some entertainment...

Neon Genesis Evangelion - Platinum Collection / 7 DVD

Black Lagoon Season 1 Collection / 3 DVD NEW

What do people think of the shows/prices? Keep in mind I don't do any of that torrenting stuff you young whippersnappers get up to...

I am really enjoying The Sarah Connor chronicle. They keep adding layer upon layer of sub plots and twists. Cant wait for the enxt one.
Does anyone know if there will be a third series? Not sure how its rating in the states but I hope it keeps going.

PS.
Cant wait to watch Spartacus on DVD from all the rave reviews!

Sarah Connor Chronicles was cancelled upon the end of season 2, I'm sorry to say. Damn shame too, as the series was better than the last two big budget movies combined in my opinion.

Yeah I was shocked and ticked off when I heard about it's cancellation. It did a take a couple of episodes, but the show was heading in an awesome direction especially in season two.

Apart from the usual stuff, already discussed, I've been watching the new show Justified, which has been quite enjoyable, as well as enjoying the return in recent weeks of Ashes to Ashes, Doctor Who, and Breaking Bad.

Fringe has been getting quite good too, the last episode with Peter Weller kicked much ass.

Yeah love Fringe.
The other week with the flash back episode showing the origin of the other dimension was awesome. It filled in a lot of answers and was a top episode!

Lithgow is really good during season 4 of Dexter, enjoy. And try to stay unspoiled, always more fun to watch a show that way.
