Torrent VS DVD
Just wondering how many of us watch movies through torrents and how many through DVDs (whether it's through buying, renting borrowing etc).

Same. I restrict video through torrent to animation and tv shows; Lost, JL/JLU, Clone Wars.

I torrent TV shows and then upgrade to DVD when the boxsets are released locally.

Re: Torrent VS DVD
I torrent stuff I don't want to get spoiled on, so mostly US/UK stuff they haven't released/screened down here yet. Most of the time I'll end up getting it on disc when it's available.

Re: Torrent VS DVD
I wait for movies to be either released in the cinema or on DVD to view them.
I only torrent stuff that I can't view in Australia (either on TV or on DVD) within a reasonable time frame of it being shown in the US or UK.
Even then, if it's a TV show I typically buy it when it does come out on DVD (if it does) to rewatch again (especially as the quality of torrents can be quite poor).
Cheers.

Re: Torrent VS DVD
I kept downloading things then having to search for a reader program to view them as they were usually in some strange format so recently I've only downloaded airbrushing dvd's (which are always rediculously over priced) and the odd UFC fight.... $2 tue & Thurs at the local video shop is now where I end up & now that I've canned foxtel I'm thinking the money from that will go to start picking up dvd's of my favourite shows

Re: Torrent VS DVD
I only torrent the shows that get dicked around on Aussie TV, or have been out for a long time. I did Sopranos when 9 completely raped it in the schedule for the last couple of season, and also "I'm Alan Partridge" cause I couldn't find it anywhere.
On a side note, the ABC puts up a lot of its better shows as podcasts through itunes for free. Plus they've got their iview player, which is pretty cool. I'm also very happy that you can now watch full episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report for free through online streaming.

Re: Torrent VS DVD
I torrent shows that I like to follow as they come out in the US - though theres only a couple of those. Terminator, Weeds & The L Word.
Everything else I will acquire at LANs, and if I really like the series I'll buy it on DVD. I never hire though, always watch movies & shows when I get them at LANs.
Do torrent the odd show for my parents too.

Yes!! So the man!! Can you tell me how soon after airing are they available, and are they region locked? Can we watch them here from Oz without any issue?
