The Dark Knight DVD Extras VERY Dissappointing...

Post by Bondi_Guy on Thu Dec 11, 2008 5:46 am

I'm actually pretty shocked and a little pissed off...nothin wrong with the movie...still as awesome as evah!!!....but the special features...or lack of them is fucked!!!
No interviews with any of the actors...nothing about the evolution/creation of the Joker or Two-Face...nothing on the creation of the special effects...nothing comicbook related...Just a bunch of useless shit!!!
I don't understand how they put a huuuuuge amount of extras on any old movie but a movie that is about to break a billion dollars world wide.A movie that everyone raved about.A movie that is nominated for so many awards gets bubkis.....!
What the hell?!

They'll probably pull a George Lucas/Peter Jackson, i.e. release an uber-edition somewhere down the track in an effort to grab more money off you at a later date.

There's over an hour of "making of" material (behind the scenes, inteviews, etc) on disc 1 of the Blu-ray version.

I guess there just wasn't enough disc space on the DVD.

Additionally, I've heard that Warner is planning a double dip release down the road...

you can put your money on the double dip. I bought the 2 disk edition today though. Just loved the joker way too much not to.

Though do note that the Austrailan BD release is lacking ALL BD-Live material, and the digital copy (ours is a 2-disc set, while the US release is 3-discs).

Ours does have a nicer cover though. Cool

God, that sucks. Not the digital copy, but the BD-Live stuff - has anyone heard about the commentary with Nolan that'll be run through this?

hmmm, just talked to my brother about this. Whats the chance that a new version will be released around Oscar time with better extras?

2 and a bit months away?

No chance in hell.

2 years, maybe. But not 2 months.

IMO, they probably have the uber-discs prepped and ready for release some time next year. I would be very surprised if we didn't see DK rereleased by the middle of next year.

I'm just stating that I'm so absolutely certain that it wont happen, that I'll gladly donate $100 to the board (which I guess means to simmo, to use for the board) if it does happen.

The closest to a double dip we'll possibly see within the next 12 months would be a re-release with a limited slipcase, or some other packaging variant. But there's no way they'll release a new edition with added/different content for at least a year, and realistically, likely not for 2-3 years.
