Bratz has come to an end,

Post by FIELDY on Sun Dec 07, 2008 4:00 am

Was at my local TRU yesterday with my little one picking up a birthday present for a party, and I saw them dumping the Bratz dolls like there was no tomorrow.

After thinking DAMN!!! why doesnt this ever happen with Star Wars, Marvel etc, I had to ask why. I was told that its all over the news - really??? - and that the line is not continuing as the guy who created it was working for Mattel at the time he came up with it, so they are fighting and have one in court to have the line ended.

So thus after Christmas they will be no more, and TRU sees dumping them at half price before Christmas is better than waiting till after Christmas.

I knew the toy game was ruthless but even this surprised me, so if you got little ones who wanna be a Bratstar one day, I'd be watching the stockists...

Or if your a scalper, start loading up cos I guess theyll be worth more next year, lol

I think this might have more to do with the legal issues around Bratz than anything else like sales.

Yeah its to do with the legal issues, according to the TRU manager what ever is not sold by 31/12/08 will have to be destroyed as it can no longer be sold, so its either sell it for cost plus a bit or lose all the stock later.

I guess the guy had some fun while it lasted, lol,

Some doll websites are saying that they will go through the roof, after the new year.

What?! Neutral

That's retarded.

People have sent me cartoon porn images of characters from The Simpsons, Invader Zim, etc, and we've joked about it. Now *I* could face criminal prosecution if it was found that one of those images was still on my harddisc somewhere?

That's bull****. Drawings do NOT = people.

Here is some good reading from the MGA point of view.

http://mgae.com/press_releases/trial_news.asp

Why do I have a feeling if when it is finally all said and done and Mattel does end up owning Bratz lock stock and barrel it will completly bury the line out of pride and spite.

Necro posting at its best.

I was in Target (USA) yesterday looking for JLU and DCUC for Nightowl and wandered down around the girl isle like I do to keep up on trends.

WTF there Bratz dolls back on the shelves (10th Anniversary ones). I knew Mattel had planned to start releasing them in 2010, because regardless how much they detract for Barbie they are a sales winner. They looked similar to the old brats but you can tell they been changed. Face is alittle different. Bigger WTF they are made by MGA and not Mattel. So I do some research.

On July 22nd the reversal of the Mattel/MGA lawsuit from the District Court in 2009 by the Ninth Circuit Court re-awarded MGA the Bratz License again. (Where the District Court Awarded Mattel 100% ownership of Bratz in 2009)

I am assuming MGA pumped these out as soon as they where re-awarded the license which was really quick after no bratz dolls for about a year. They have also made changed to all existing molds so the bratz do look slightly off they what they use to. The faces are alittle different so are the bodies. (My daughter thinks they just aged a year) I am assuming they done this so when the go back to court in Jan 2011 even if Mattel wins again they can't claim rights to the new changed bodys/molds only there older original Bratz dolls. I am sure the Bratz saga will continue.

There is a huge release happening on September 10th (10/10/10) with 10 new dolls planned. I am glad to see them return. I really did not like the Moxie dolls at all. (Sadly I confess I own about 50 Bratz in my collection)
