Hasbro Awing repaint wip

Post by Hemish on Mon Dec 01, 2008 6:11 pm

Got one of these not too long ago and decided to give it a repaint.
Started with priming the whole thing white and did the preshade with german grey

Then started some painting on it, colours used were gullgrey, mix of german grey/aircraft grey and flat blue.
Hopefully will have time this week to mask it up properly and clean up the overspray.

Then once thats done its weathering time.

Just a Q ....how did you get from the top grey to the next pic... just wiping down with a sponge?

You start painting in the middle of a section and work your way out.
Just make the coat lighter as you get to the edge so you can still see some of the darker colour along the edges.

Found a nice metallic grey I had in my paint draw and used that to do the engines instead of having any blue on there.
The blue painting is all finished and everything is masked ready to do the main colours again. Once that is done the engine area will be remasked and the mettalic grey will be used on them again to clean it up.

Cmon good weather!!

Sooooo, when are you next leaving this A wing unattended did you say? *putting on best conversational tone* heh

that looks great! I've only done a few star wars repaints, and thats one i want to do! ( but alas i only have 1 awing so it will prob never happen)

Are you a fan of panel washes as well? After such nice subtle work its a scary though, guess it depends on how dirty its to be though hey.
