Stencilator's Customs * update 10.08.11*

Post by stencilator on Sun Nov 02, 2008 10:00 am

I think it's about time I started a customs thread. I used to post quite a few custom transformers on the ozformers website, and since I've started customising some other figures I thought I could post them all here.

I'll start with some of my old transformers customs, some of which were comissions, then I'll work into some more recent work.

Masterpiece Inferno

Alternators Starscream

Alternators Runabout

Alternators Megatron

Alternators Red Alert

Alternators Trailbreaker

Alternators Rewind, Alternators Steeljaw, and articulated G1 Blaster

Alternators Sludge

Alternators Divebomb, Razorclaw, and Tantrum

Alternators Soundblaster

Movie Hoist

Classics Seekers

Alternators Bumblebee

Masterpiece Ultra Magnus

That's probably enough Transformers customs for a while. Some of you may have seen them before but I hope the rest of you enjoy them.

Smile

Re: Stencilator's Customs * update 10.08.11*

Post by stencilator on Sun Nov 02, 2008 10:23 am

Most of my transformers customs were about creating charaters that weren't made, but marvel legends seem to have created almost every figure I could possibly want, unfortunately I haven't been able to get my hands on some of them, so I decided to make my own.

I only started collecting Marvel Legends recently and now it would be almost impossible to find a Giant Man BAF for a reasonable price, so I found a marvel legends icons Silver Surfer going cheap and repainted it...

I also like to make minor adjustments to most of my figures... just small improvements. For Iron Man I used the head from a prototype figure and the body of the more articulated mark III figure, then I carved down his hand armour so he can raise his palm properly (for repulsing), carved out the back of his helmet so he can look up properly (for flying), and gave him some repulsor blasts.

You may have seen my custom Hawkeye....

Some of my fav Avengers...

Thanks ragericho.

Here's another new repaint and head swap. I used the head of some crappy little cheap toy (I can't remember what it was called) and the body of the new 2 pack Captain America and made him a new enemy.

Ok so not knowing anything about those transformers figures, what exactly is different on them from the standard release? Are they all just repaints that you have done on each?

Yeah, they're all just repaints and head swaps to create new characters. Some have some small modifications or additions... mostly head resculpting...

Well you've done a pretty good job, when I was looking at them I couldnt tell what it was the custom on it, they all looked like proper releases, so I guess that means you rock Smile

Yeah, I would have liked to do a transformable Ultra Magnus with trailer/armour. Massive task though. That one was a commission and the guy didn't want to transform it... just wanted it masterpiece size.

Just thought I'd post a quick update. The Iron Man figure shown above has had some minor upgrades. I fitted magnets to his hands and feet and to the blasts for quick attachment. I also fitted a magnet to his forearm and made a little rocket launcher... it still needs a shiney mettalic paint job.

But the best part.... I added a light to his chest. It was very difficult as there's not much room inside him (i've done it before in the prototype one - much easier), but it's done and I like it.

I hope you like it too.

The light is a tiny blue LED. I fit two small batteries in with a magnet holding them together through different sections of the plasctic. I drilled a series of holes through the internal structure to fit the magnet and feed the wires where they won't interfere with his normal movement. I put a really tiny push button switch in his back. The hardest part was fitting it all back together without breaking a connection or getting wires stuck in the way... which is why I'm reluctant to pull him apart to photograph his insides. If he needs adjusting or a battery change I'll take some pics.

Here's an old custom... a repaint of the ruby red armour cyclops.

I just love the light up eye so I had to repaint him to fit into my x-men collection better.

Here's a new one I haven't quite finished yet. It's Revoltech Black Widow.

I used a Fraülein Revoltech Soryu Asuka Langley body with a ML Kitty Pride head and gave the whole thing a repaint. So as not to cover up her new body with holsters and belts, she has a new hi-tech weapons storage system. I put magnets in her thighs and one on her back to store extra guns and knives... 'cause you can never have enough weapons.

I haven't posted any customs in ages, and most of my figures are packed away in storage at the moment, so the only ones I have out are WIP customs. Here's one I completed this morning. It's a really basic addition to the Iron Man Movie War Machine. He was too much of a straight repaint, so to set him apart from Tony, I gave him the armour from Toybiz War Machine... cut off the engine/backpack and cut slots in so his weapons can still retract, then gave him a shinier chest thingy and...

You may notice some other minor WIPs there... new head for Cap, New hair for Hulk, new blue for Spidey... nothing ever gets finished.

Easy Deadpool.

He was a lazy custom... no sculpting at all... although if I find the time I'll sculpt him a new belt buckle and maybe carve his gloves down... and maybe create a proper holster for the weapons on his back.

He's made entirely from Marvel Legends 2 pack figures that were going cheap at TRU. Ronin's head and swords, Forge's upper body, Wolvies lower body, Fury's holsters and guns, Cap's pouches, and Electra's sais.

He who carries the most weapons wins right!

What the...

Stand back... I got this.

No sweat.
