Post by DroothR on Fri Aug 15, 2008 8:29 pm

I saw it yesterday.

It was shown in the largest cinema at my local Hoyts multiplex.

Only 5 people went to my screening (including me, and my best friend). Shocked

No, that's not a typo.

FIVE PEOPLE. Neutral

As a "film" I'd give it about 5/10.

But thinking of it for what it really is (an early, big-screen preview of the first few episodes of the TV series), I'd lean toward 7/10.

Looks like it could be a fun series. Smile

Saw it today.
It was a bit of fun. But the interaction between Ahsoka and Anakin was a bit lackluster and almost forced.
Have to agree with your summary DroothR.
Also, LOVED the clones, they made the film Very Happy

Post by TheGoodDr on Sat Aug 16, 2008 2:45 pm

I saw it today. As a stand alone film, I'd rate it about 3 out of ten...very poor. TV show wise, could be OK.....time will tell I guess whether it will have the legs to go the full (rumoured) 100 episodes.

The animation takes a little to get used to. I did like how the texture is made to look handed 'painted', however the character movement isn't as fluid as I would have expected in this day and age (then again, it is made as a TV show).

Anakin's overall design is by far the worse of all characters seen in the film. I just can't seem to connect what I'm seeing on the screen to Hayden Christensen (why give him a button nose???)

Worst character in the Star Wars Universe = Ziro the Hutt http://www.chud.com/articles/articles/15932/1/HOMO-THE-HUTT/Page1.html)

The more I think about it, the more I'm kinda angry that what I was presented today was considered 'good enough' as a stand alone feature film deserving of a theatrical release. Thank god I had a free ticket to waste on this.......

The Cartoon Network Clone Wars is head and shoulders above this film in terms of 'fun' and coolness.

Agree with your comments about the animation, "hand-painted" look and character movement completely.

Though, I thought Anakin's look was quite nice. I was more disappointed with Obi-Wan - he was bizarre looking.

Also agree with Ziro - what a disgusting character. Jar Jar looks so much better than him.

The more films i see with bad reviews, the more i enjoy them, i gotta say, for entertainment value, i liked it, i was very entertained, the clones and droids were great, the main failing i thought was the lack of the major players voices, mainly Ewen Mac, he has made Obi-Wan and the guy who did it in this animated version wasn't even close for me, but the look of Anakin i thought was Vaderesk, which i thought was ok considering he becomes vader(oops sorry spoiler!!) But for entertainment value i'd give it a 7/10....

One thing that really bugged me was the droids. They're droids, robotic tools, they're not supposed have personalities or intelligence. Seeing how they were made out to be just made me realise how much this is targeted at a younger audience.

Oh, and remind me not to go to a 12pm session on a Saturday for a movie that is aimed at children next time! Razz

Well, it'll be on TV (in the US) in a month and a half, so feel free to wait.

It's only worth seeing at the cinema if you're a hardcore fan, or just impatient. Wink

The "movie" is just the first 4 episodes of the series edited together into a feature length "film".

It's just a big-screen preview of the series.

Big-screen presentation (and admission price) aside, nothing unique at all.

As mentioned on page 1 of this thread:

I thought Ziro was the most interesting thing in the movie Very Happy Reminded me of Philip Seymour Hoffman doing his Capote thing. As for the overall movie, if it wasn`t for my sons passing the Malteezers back and forth I would have had a sunday nap.

Post by DroothR on Mon Oct 06, 2008 3:35 pm

Watched the first 2 episodes, and so far, I'm not impressed.

Both episodes were so similar.

Platoon gets in trouble, Clones lament their dispensability, Jedi professes their unconditional love for them, they all pull together and work through the crisis at hand.

Neutral

...and what's with Anakin being the wise mentor type? Judging by the type of armor the Clones are clad in, it would seem that this series takes place quite some time before RotS, so it seems totally out of character to be SO focused.

Hopefully it gets better...
