I've been picking up the Punisher War Journal TPBs and quite enjoying them. I didn't much like Olivetti's art in Ghost Rider or Venom vs Carnage, but felt it worked really well for Punisher and what I've seen of the new Cable series too.

However I'm dropping this book because of the Howard Chaykin art in issues 16-17 which I equated, whilst finishing the Trade last night, to a comic strip you'd see in a student newspaper. I was really put off.

I havent written for a while so i thought I would post.
Just finished reading annhilation conquest hardcover book 1. I had high hopes after the annhilation wave and was to some extent let down. It was good but I think it misses Nova. The Star Lord story was good but the lesbo Quasar was a bit average. I will get the other ones though and eventually the Guardians of the galaxy. This was the first hard cover I have bought it certainly is better in hard cover then cardboard and the paper quality is excellent the art certainly jumps off the page.

I also bought, not read yet, Sinestro Corps and Spawn book 3.

I'm so over most of superhero comics out there...and most of the stuff from Marvel and DC.

The only books I pick up regularly are-

The Walking Dead
Powers
Invincible
The Astounding Wolfman
The Boys
Star Wars Legacy
The Savage Dragon
Green Lantern

I'll pretty much read anything by Robert Kirkman. And I have the entire run of Y The Last Man.Brilliant book.

With the demise of Quality Comics and the movement of my pull lists I'm now down to
Any punisher
Cap
Iron Man - which has now changed from agent of shield to the other one (Why does marvel keep doing this?)
Powers
Darkness
Spawn
100 Bullets (3 issues to go)
Thor
any 30 days of night

Trades for Walking Dead & Iron Fist

Recently dropped Cable & X-Force
& starting to get sick of Marvels endless crossover big stories which seems to have got completely over the top in the last few years without any gap between them

getting very close to dropping everything and going to trades. Secret Invasion felt like a money vacuum and wasn't really that good. was so excited for it too.

Final Crisis still has me though.

Just read Xmen Messiah CompleX because I want to eventually pick up the new Cable series in trade, and now I find myself chasing down subsequent Uncanny Xmen TPBs. Brubaker has me under his contol!

Apache by Ed Macy
About Apache AH Mk1 missions in Afghanistan 2007. Love helicopters, and since Chicken Hawk (about Vietnam UH-1 helicopters) was such a great read I thought I would give this book a go.

Well Punisher War Journal is off my list - still behind in my reading and only recently found out about it being cancelled. The new Punisher ongoing will be its replacement - read the first 3 issues and was impressed.

Is Punisher MAX still going?

Can't wait to see what the new author on Punisher MAX does with Frank. This is was my favourite series all last year. The new trade is out out (volume11) but Minotaur were out of it last week.

As for novels the Conqueror series about that funny bastard, Genghis Khan by author Conn Iggulden has been a great read. Interesting, historical and action-packed it has a lot of things that interest me in a text, although I could stand some more pillage and rape.

Just bought and read Deluxe hardcover edition of Batman R.I.P. by Grant Morrison. Alot of his stuff I like such as Invisibles and his work on New XMen.
This I didn't.
Lack of coherency and shitty pacing of the story. He just jumps ahead instead of fleshing things out. Some 'standard' post-modern, Morrison characters making up the villains.
Overall disappointing and I could consider it a waste of money.
Art wasn't bad. Pretty much a clone of Jim Lee's work.
