argh......I'm cutting more books now.......I'm stuck wanting to be a completist but with new carloan & baby arriving in a few months I need to stop completely.....but it's so hard..... help's that franken-punisher is so bad..... where the idea came from to have him heavily involved in the marvel universe... civil war/the list etc......then killed quickly & quietly and relaunched as a born again blah blah......just terrible.....I guess that's the continuity & the Ennis punisher is in a different universe.......bah!

Punisher is horrible right now.

Although I'm still reading pretty much every MU book right now, the enthusiasm is definitely waning. There's just so much mediocrity. Punisher is god-awful, the X-Books (aside from X-Factor) are boring and directionless. And the Hulk books are some of the most insultingly bad comics Marvel has ever produced.

I bought a whole bunch of trades from the US website sci-fi genre.
I have read:
Essential X-men 8 which I flew through, loved it all, it is a great team of Claremont and Silvestri. It starts with them going to Australia, has the reavers, first Genosha and Inferno. The only bad thing I could say was that Inferno was a bit dragged out.
I cant wait to buy book 9.
Avengers Dissasembled, not bad but over-hyped, I was expecting more. I did note seeing a Skrull in the Kree battle scene.
Amazing Spidey. I dropped this when it went 3 times a month as it was too expensive but picked them up in TPB. Books were: Kravens first hunt, New ways to die with Anti-venom, and crime and punisher. Stories are pretty good, I really, really dont like the artists working on the title. Romita is OK but I dont see why he is held in such high esteem as an artist. I did like the artist Paulo Siqueira but mainly because he is a McFarlane knock off.

I read X-Force and find this to be one of the better books I've read in a long time. Admitedly though, I not so keen on the cross over stuff (currently Necrosha and soon to be Second Coming).....the stand alone stories I've thoroughly enjoyed.

The Invincible Iron Man is far better than the previous Iron Man run (which started with a bang with Extremis and ended in a god awful mess involving War Machine). I'm also reding the Iron Man Vs Whiplash limited series.....this ain't so good Sad

However the book I look forward to the most each and every month (and have done so now for a good couple of years) is Nova. The whole intergalactic super hero is such a silly concept, but I'll be damned if I say I don't get a kick out this comic each and every issue. Smile

True that about Nova. The Marvel cosmic books are consistently the ones I look forward to every month. Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favourite books in a long time.

Novel wise I'm reading the latest Stephen King right now, Under the Dome. Not bad. Also just did my first audio book, The Girl Who Played with Fire, the second book after the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Really enjoyed doing the audiobook while walking to work, think I'll get more of those.

Nova is definitely at the top of my monthly reading pile. I get Guardians in TPB format and also enjoy it. I also need to get the War of Kings TPB.

War of Kings has been the only disappointment in the cosmic stuff for me. It was ok, just not as awesome as the Annihilation series.

I enjoyed them but i enjoy anything zombie/apocalypse/end of the world based, without ruining them to much it is a bit different to the standard zombie scenario but in a good way different.
it's more Marvel zombies than Max Brooks zombies.
How much are you hanging for TPB #12 of TWD?

Yeh it seems pretty clever, doing for books what the mp3 player did for music?
over 300,000 books available so far.
The good lady wants one so will prob jump on board at some point.

EDIT: apparently a lot more books now than when i was last checking it out. 420,000 now.

Re: Kindles
I was thinking about this the other night as I checked out the free digital comics link and thought it would be cool to get a kindle so i could read all these comics (There is thousands of them).
The only down side is that I need an internet connection to read the Digital comics as I dont think you can download them. I have no idea if the Kindle connects to the internet?
Also do I wait for the i-river e-reader or wait for the Apple i-pad?

I've sat next to someone on the bus with a Kindle. Asked her what it was like, and she said the best thing about it was her lack of shelf space at home for physical books. However, she also reckoned that the sheer costs associated weren't really worth it. Not only for the cost of the device itself, but because it was too easy to pay by credit card for books that you felt you should read and never did. With a physical book, you invariably read it because it's tangible. But when she got the kindle, she immediately downloaded about 20 books because of the novelty, but it would take her between 6 months and a year to read them all. I can't see myself shelling out for a kindle for these reasons.

An ipad or something similar I could do though. I've, ahem, "acquired" a bunch of comics digitally, and being able to read them just about anywhere would totally float my boat. I could do it on my laptop, but that's actually kinda cumbersome on a bus or train etc.

No, I don't like pdfs for comics. I get them in either .cbr or .cbz formats. Basically they're zip or rar files with each page a scanned image in an archive. Then I use a reader called CDisplay (it's free) to read them. It's pretty simple to use.
