No need to Ebay - it should be on mattycollector.com following the Toy Fair.

Faker looks pretty nifty, but with the crappy Aussie dollar, it will definitely be a pass for me. I'll save my money for the likes of Hordak and She-Ra (or Trap-Jaw, Evil-Lynn, Man-at-Arms and Teela if I weaken).

Still, pretty decent (if predictable) exclusive and I prefer to see Faker as an exclusive than take up one of the monthly spots.

Cheers.

Um, what were you expecting it to look like? Neutral

Don't get me wrong, I have no interest in it myself, but it looks EXACTLY how it should, so I don't understand why anyone is surprised at what it looks like, much less why the reactions above are negative.

I was hoping they'd come in faction-themed packaging, but it does look nice.

Wonder if they'll change the packaging for each "wave" (year)?

Mattel have now increased the order limit to 10 (up from 4).

Hopefully it will work in their favour and not simply to encourage scalpers to mass buy and sell on Ebay.

Looking forward to grabbing He-Man on 1 December 2008, or whatever day/time that will be in Australia.

And looking forward to future reveals, especially since we're supposed to be getting at least one, possibly two, female characters in the first 12 months (with all new sculpts - not just DCUC re-use).

Cheers.

Awesome. The female mold will be the next 'big reveal' for the line and is sure to spark debate.

Teela & Evil-Lyn couldn't be too far away. I'd say we'll have to wait a long while for the Sorceress as usual.

Mattel stated we would be seeing two never before seen characters in 2009, one of which I'd imagine to be the Queen seeing as how they keep mentioning her. I'm down with that...I'd love to finally have a complete Eternian monarchy! Very Happy

Question

So, now that the limits have been lifted a little, is anyone (particularly Melbournites) interested in re-looking at the group buying plan?

Re: MOTU Classics :The Thread

Mattel seem to be saying lots of different stuff for the first 12 months.

December: He-Man and Beast-Man
January: Skeletor
February: Stratos
March: Faker
April: Mer-Man

The first 12 months is supposed to include two never before made characters (possibly He-Ro and Queen Marlena), one or two females (Queen Marlena could fill one of those voids) and the first eight releases will not be the characters from the original "Eight Back" (which means Man-At-Arms and Teela won't be amongst the first eight figures). And Zodac/k is still to be released in 2009.

I'm also not sure how Faker fits into all of that. I thought the Convention Exclusives were originally intended as "bonus" figures to the one per month rule. Yet Faker is now the "March" figures. Also, he's from the "Twelve Back" so that could mean that Man-At-Arms and Teela could be seen sooner rather than later since technically, the running order for the original "Eight Back" has now been broken by Faker.

Wait and see I guess. There's no NA or POP until 2010, but I'm not sure how they would classify Hordak and his minions since the toys kind of fell under the MOTU banner, yet the characters were on She-Ra.

Cheers.

If you check here, http://www.mattycollector.com/store/matty/DisplayCategoryProductListPage/categoryID.12422000
on the official site Faker is listed as a bonus and the figures only go to march thus far....

In their original press release for Faker, they said he would be released on-line in March.

One of the recent Mattel Q&As mentioned that Faker was the March release and Mer-Man was now April (previously Mer-Man was March - I think). Not sure which one though. I lose track of them all, it doesn't appear to be the he-man.org one though.

Hope I'm wrong and Faker is a pure "bonus" figure.

Cheers.

Re: MOTU Classics :The Thread

Post by Xenaphobia on Thu Nov 06, 2008 12:07 pm

From Mattel's latest Q&A at he-man.org (3/11/08):

Q. Because of the push-back on the initial MOTUC release date, what is Mattel's proposed schedule for announcing new figures, showing photos, and showing us packaging (which we haven't seen any of yet)?

A. We will roll out brand specific pages on MattyCollector.com in early November (including a page for MOTUC) which will detail all of this information. Right now the plan is for He-Man and Beast Man to go on sale in Dec, Skeletor in Jan, Stratos in Feb., and Mer-Man in April (Mer Man was originally the March figure but he was delayed a few weeks so the NYCC figure will become the March figure as well). The packaging will be revealed when we roll out the new brand page in early November. New figures will be revealed in the first quarter of 2009 once we judge sales of the first few characters. (we donít want to get too far ahead and announce figures until we are sure they are going to market!)

***

I'd be happy if that has changed.

Cheers.
