Re: MOTU Classics :The Thread

Shipping for the SDCC exclusives was $15.55 plus $4.00 tax, so including shipping the price basically doubles. I'm going to have to limit my collecting if they're costing $45 - $50 each.

That said, a number of international fans have proposed some alternative strategies to Mattel in their various Q&As, although Mattel hasn't responded directly as yet. Suggestions included international fans being able to order/purchase the figures each month, but elect to wait and ship multiple figures together; Mattel to directly ship the figures from China to those countries where it would reduce shipping dramatically (like Australia); Mattel to simply look into getting some cheaper pricing (especially as I don't think I've ever paid $20.00 for shipping from the US for a single figure off Ebay); Mattel to work directly with their offices/partners in international regions to handle the shipping (although that seems doubtful since Mattel can't even get their regular product like DCUC onto shelves in Oz).

Cheers.

Yeah, there's something about blue skinned figures I love.
Plenty of them in the Marvel universe!

I didn't buy any of the 200x exclusives. Keldor, Faker & Snake Teela look really cool so I'll have to hunt them down one day. But I have to get a few of the regular figures first.

No wait, I own the She-Ra figure. She was some kind of exclusive.

Anyway looking at the cardbacks it seems Faker won't be too far way in MOTUC.

Dabigfella wrote:As a guess, i would have to say that Queen Marlana would be the 09 con exclusive, with Faker being released the month prior to comic-con

Marlena or Adora. Isn't He-Ro another one on the list?

Since Marlena didn't appear in the original mini comic & didn't quite make it into the original line, & they can't use figures created for the cartoon (?), I'm not sure what they are basing her appearance on.

I think Marlena did appear in the original mini-comics (in a variety of dresses (in a variety of colours)).

I've seen some scans of the comic pages over at he-man.org and I *think* that's how they're rationalising her inclusion in the line:

Ah see, thats what I get for only reading the first one! Very Happy
I'll have to take a look at them all. Thanks for the link.

She looks much the same as in the cartoon. Hopefully she wore a green dress in the mini comics at some point. Mattel have mentioned her a few times now, so she'll probably be out sooner rather than later.

Hopefully we don't have to wait forever to get a Randor to stand by her side. I was very tempted to pick up the Randor staction but....I didn't.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll be right. Statues aren't really my thing.

Soo glad MOTU is back to being action figures.

Mattel's latest Q&As confirm that Skeletor and Stratos have each been pushed back a month, BUT they're trying to release Skelly in December together with He-Man and Beast-Man.

Cheers.

That was awesome! lol!

So with these head variations, do we get to choose which one we want, or is it like King Greyskull where you get whichever one they send you?

I kinda like both Mer-mans anyway...but in general I think I'd prefer to choose.

Thanks to Niteowls link, I've been watching a few MOTU things on Youtube. I'm now watching The Power of the Sword.

Yep. Some of the MOTUC figures will come with two heads.

Mer-Man is one. Man-At-Arms is the other (moustach and no moustache).

Not sure who else will get the two-head treatment. I'd like a Keldor head with Skeletor. And I think it would be good to include both a "hair-up" and "hair-down/ponytail" head with Teela.

I'd even like to see it extended to Trap-Jaw (with Kronis head), Stinkor (with repainted Mer-Man head and a 200X inspired head) and shockingly even She-Ra (with an alternate "rooted hair" head).

It certainly makes the figures more appealing when they come with truly meaningful accessories.

Cheers.

Isnt all that stuff from the 200x series?

Wouldnt that contradict the classics vibe?

The 2 heads in one box is a really cool idea.

I'm sure the hardcore fans would buy 2 of each figure so they can display both heads. I don't think I could afford that, but I kinda like the idea of swapping them around every few months anyway.

I do it with some of my Doctor Who & Heroes figures already. Love extra heads!

The ML line seems to be delving into this too.

For me, the MOTUC line just got better (even better I should say!) thumbs up1

Mattel has announced/confirmed that He-Man and Beast-Man will be December, Skeletor in January and Stratos in February. All future releases will follow the one figure per month format.

Cheers.
