Toys R Us Clone Wars Midnight Opening

Post by TheSweetestThing on Thu Jul 24, 2008 5:02 am

Got a lovely email in my inbox this morning for the Toys R Us Clone Wars Midnight Opening!

http://www.toysrus.com.au/site/default.htm

12:01AM Friday 1st August

This opening is not at all Toys R Us locations, so you will need to check the website for your closest.
My local isn't doing it, but the next one along which isn't much further away (in the opposite direction, mind) will be so I'm considering taking the Friday off based on the deals in my email.

The website is only showing Revell X-Wing & Millennium Falcon as exclusives at this stage however according to the email the following will be available;

Spend $150 or more and receive the Toys R Us exclusive holographic General Grievous (RRP $15.99)
Spend $60 or more on Lego and receive an Anakin Skywalker Lego-man keyring & free Lego club membership.
Exclusive Collectors Edition Toys R Us Gift Card available with any purchase over $10 (while stocks last).
Star Wars Force FX Lightsabers Valued at $229.99 - now this is a bit difficult, the box says "Save $120" with "$99" directly underneath with no other information. I'm assuming this means they will be $99 - but that could be wishful thinking Wink

The email also says there will be lucky door prizes and there will be Bonus exclusive Clone Trooper ID Cards.

There's also a trailer of some description on the Toys R Us website for your viewing pleasure!

EDIT: And here's the screenshot;

Neither did I. I think they must be using all the Star Wars stuff they have to act as filler for this thing.

Can't say I've heard word on that - but I'm not sure that the BMF falcon is even out properly in the US yet.

ok, probably better for my pocket that way. You may want to have a look at the hasbro star wars release guide as it has them listed for 26/7/08 release state side.

When I get the chance I will screen shot the email and post the image here - unable to do so currently as image storage websites are blocked at work Wink

Was thinking that Nitey, but a mate of mine has asked if I would go to Parramatta so he could go too - so it looks like that's the go.

Went to the Parramatta one, about 30 or so people attended thereabouts. Missed out on an FX Lightsaber due to winning a door prize (Clone Trooper Standee!) but can't complain about that!
Also bought the Kotobukiya Boba Fett they had in stock, and a Lego Republic Cruiser - wanted to buy a Republic Gunship as well but figured I'd spent enough dosh at that point Wink
I couldn't really decide whether I wanted any of the figures or not. As usual the real thing was nothing compared to the production shots. However, my mate bought a Clone Trooper and by the end of this weekend I was wishing I'd bought one - they're rather nice looking.
Got the holographic General Grievous - bit of a waste of time, not a good looking thing at all. Left him at said mate's place Wink

On display were all the new vehicles, wave 1 of the Clone Wars and the Legacy Collection figures, a couple of Sideshow 12" figures ($200 a pop!), some Kotobukiya and a load of the Revell model kits, which took up a large portion of the display and were not at all interesting. And, of course, all the new Lego sets.

So it was worth going just being able to see all the new toys, even if I didn't buy any of those particular ones.

My Local had the Grievous holograms fer the price of regular figures so grabbed a regular grievous and hologram one.

Saw the huge Mel falcon, was apparently $250AUD at TRU.

Yeah pretty sure that was the price tag for the BMF. Was pretty cool, but I'm more hooked on the Lego one. Shame that one isn't the same price! Razz

Heh yeah I also thought what simmo said, then read Big Millennium Falcon somewhere and realised how silly my original thought was!
