Grindhouse
Well I missed them in the cinema....guess I was busy for those couple of days
anyway got out Planet Terror last night and really enjoyed it....anyone else catch either of these? hoping there's a copy of Death Proof available tonight...Plenty of humour, extra's were decent and I loved the Machete trailer.....love that token evil Mexican guy!

Re: Grindhouse
Yeah, absolutely loved Planet Terror. Rodrriguez`s best film to date and a great cast (especially Rose McGowan) and some truly great usage of that machine gun leg. A real crowd pleaser, I thought.
The ommision of the other 'mock' trailers from the dvd`s was a dissapointment, though.
I`m pretty much bias to anything Tarantino does and thought Death Proof was great also (the first half being, IMO, some of the best work he`s done (great use of music too). The second half I was unsure of on first viewing (it shifts from 'Grindhouse' to a more mid/late 70's car chase movie like Vanishing Point, which is name dropped a few times) and nothing could top the build up and conclusion to the first half (you`ll see what I mean!!) but after watching it again, it kinda clicked. So yeah, good movies, watched them back to back the way they should be viewed!!

Re: Grindhouse
yeah what's with the other trailers gone. i was so disappointed.
the movies were great though, good throwbacks. i really loved the ending to death proof, and i don't mean the last 10 minutes i mean the last 2 seconds, classic.
and did anybody else hear. they're making the Machete movie!!!!

The COMPLETE Grindhouse experience is coming out later this year on home video in the USA.
Just thought I'd let you all know.

It's not officially greenlit though, and may never get produced.Steve Holt wrote:and did anybody else hear. they're making the Machete movie!!!!

Re: Grindhouse
I really enjoyed Planet Terror, absolutely hated Death Proof though. Not even the coolness of Kurt Russell could save that one for me.

Re: Grindhouse
Loved Death Proof. Yet to see Planet Terror.
It's a shame the "two for one" version didn't make it down under. I would have liked to have participated in the "Grindhouse" experience.
Cheers.

Well back in 1992 our physics teacher took us too se "The Lawnmower Man" because at the time it had this brand new concept called virtual reality. I think that was his first film role, that's how I remember the Jeffmeister.

Re: Grindhouse
Holy crap, he was Jobe? That's awesome.
He is (was) one of the best things about the nigh-unwatchable Lost, so it makes sense that they'd off his character in the episode before last (and none of the characters even really notices his death, because they're all jerks).
