Video game figures

Post by drspleen on Sun Jun 22, 2008 4:59 am

Does anyone collect any figures from video games? I was going to get a Lara Croft from Neca's player select line, but when they came out they looked more streetwalker than tomb raider so I skipped it. Now I'm tempted by Marcus Phoenix, but I'm waiting to see one in person before I commit.

Anyone else pick any up?

Street fighter only for me....unless there ever was any decent king of fighters/mortal kombat/killer instinct/darkstalkers..... I'd even be interested in Raiden or R-type ships

I've seen a few that I like but haven't bought any, particularly from Resident Evil.

That Dante coming soon looks pretty sweet.

Closest thing I have besides that is movie Lara Croft & Street Fighter figures!

And I think it was a shame Lara was the only character they made from that movie...aside from the monster thing.

I have heaps of characters left to collect from Street Fighter, I only have 4....2 of which I received this week (Chun-Li & T.Hawk from Firgures Direct).
Ken, Ryu, Blanka, Bison, Cammy, Honda & Zangief are next on the list.

I have a number of spare variants left if you're after any SF figures.

I have SOTA's Chun Li and Sakura. Appart from the ugly elbow joints I think they're very nice.

My local Gametraders store has numerous figures from rounds 2 and 3 in stock.

I get game figures... kinda my new thing. I've got most of the sf cast, although sometimes not in the basic colours. I've also got a few resident evil 4 figs, I've got Kain from Blood Omen, and stuff like the marvel v capcom megaman and war machine. (Usually, if it has a fig, and it is in a game I've played, I'm at least half interested.)

I'm hanging out for the Gears of War pack Paul has put aside for me, and I'm eyeing off Altair as well... and Raziel, so my Kain can swing him around. Smile

Should have my gears figs in 2 weeks if you want a rundown, but if they're anything at all like Kain, I anticipate being fairly happy. Smile

Well, whatever THIS one's called:

I've only ever seen it refered to as the "purple variant"...

Well after getting an order processed email back on 3/7 I've recieved nothing on the mail since......so sent SOTA and email and got a "Oh here your name is....I'll ship this friday" email from Jed....that was about 2 weeks ago...still nothing in the mail.....now I see Jed's left SOTA too....so now the only 2 employees who give info out on forums etc are gone and I'm still down $70......Really starting to think that the new wave of fig's are never going to be released....let alone ever get the SDCC variants I've already shelled out for. Hope the NECA stuff is in the same scale and similar sculpts/quality etc

Game wise, I mainly collect the SFs too. It is still one of the best game for me. Cant wait for SFIV to come out next year. TDOS I feel your pain and I really really hope the new wave make it out! So sad to see them gone. I think whatever NECA is doing is gonna be more realistic less cartoony and wont fit in with SOTA SFs anyway.

Do we know if they will be articulating them?

I wonder why SOTA never looked into the Mortal Kombat license? is it not as popular as Street Fighter?

Have Jazzwares dumped their MK line?

Got in some Street Fighter figures thanks to the GoodDoc.

Sakura, Gen & Guile are new.

I thought I might buy into the new line coming out as well. They look pretty sweet.

Re: Video game figures

Post by The Dr Of Style on Fri Oct 24, 2008 8:13 pm

Hard question....most of the "bad" characters are basically selfish rather than evil ...of the figures made you could say Cammy was evil....originally made from Bison's DNA and was Killer Bee the assasin but since losing her memory now fights against Bison....Birdie: worked for Bison but basically trying to find a way to kill him so he can be in charge...so yeah bad guy.....
I've always thought of Adon as evil and Sodom (from final fight) but both of their back stories pretty much have them as neutral and I've always looked at Zangief as a bad guy (mostly cause he was hard to beat in the original SF2)
