Is this the new Punisher movie? I watched it a while ago...its an okay action movie...would not see it at the cinema, but its worth a rented DVD watch.

You must be looking at an old release list, as last I checked, it's not getting a theatrical release at all in Australia.

I just finished watching this and it wasnt that bad.
It was certainly better than the crap fest that was ghost rider.
The guy they had playing castle was suitably gritty, he had me believing he was a hardass.
The violence was over the top but geez its a comic book movie so that I didnt mind.

Yeah pretty happy with it actually....ok the spinning from the lights shooting was a little silly but the rest of it was believeable. The recruitment bit was pretty funny...... My only gripe was that they "re-did" his origin into the park scene rather than the first film but quite enjoyed it.

Can't wait to see this. Punisher MAX has been my almost my favourite comic of the past couple of years and from what I can tell this should be a good interpretation of it.

Thank God!. No more Punisher movies!

No More Rated 'R' Movies In Marvel's Future

Marvel Entertainment’s Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Peter Cuneo spoke at the Gabelli & Company’s Inaugural Movie Conference in New York City today. In his presentation he mentioned that Marvel is no longer interested in doing R rated films. As they put it, R rated movies are “off-strategy” for them and that they only want to do what they call “Triple Threat” movies. Movies that allow them to make money not only from the movie but from other licensing venues like toys and video games. I’m sure the lackluster box office performance of their last R rated movie, “Punisher War Zone” has something to do with this line of thinking as well.

Mr. Cuneo also mentioned that they are looking at possibly doing movies in 3-D sometime in the future, but that the added cost to do a movie in 3-D now is not something they wish to take on.

The 3-D spin sounds massively cool

Oh man that sucks. 3D movies give me a headache and generally blow anyway. Sharkboy and Lavagirl wasn't cool until I saw it on DVD in normal vision.
I'm gunna make my own Punisher sequel if the lameass honchos at Marvel Movies are too weak to do it.

I watched war zone again tonight and I have to say I enjoyed it a whole lot more the second time.
I think my major gripe with it was some of the dodgy effect/gore shots.
I think they got the casting of Frank perfect, the guy looked like he could give an ass whipping, didnt have to talk much and just shot lots of people up.
This will be one that gets added to the dvd ranks.
Maybe oneday I will forgive ghost rider and buy that, though I aint holding my breath.

The actor who played the Punisher was great.

The violence was great. One of the best opening kill scenes I've seen.

The 2 badguys - Jigsaw and his brother - were cringeworthy.

Ray Stevenson was a great Punisher, perfectly cast in my opinion, unfortunately the movie itself didn't seem to know what it wanted to be, and went too over-the-top and caricatured in a lot of the other performances, which is a damn shame, because had they played this movie straight it could have been something special. As it stands, it was okay, but pretty forgettable.

I watched this the other nite, As jor said, opening kill sequence, pretty much the highlight minus upside down chandalier shooter, still does'nt beat Dolph Lundgrens intro, and his Human Zipline HAHA!
Headshots looked awesome, Punisher was awesome, but the bad guys... ergh, Its weird how I judged & compared Jigsaws performance to the Joker in TDK, but ends up along the ranks of tommy lee jones' two-face! The ending was so corny as well, also similar to Batman Forever ending.
