Collector Shops Melbourne

Post by ADFarrell on Sat Dec 28, 2013 8:52 am

So over the past few days, I've been travelling around locally to some pretty awesome collector shops, and thought I'd share where i've been and what was there below!

Lobos Collectables: 503 High Street, Northcote.

So this place is just insane!  MOTU, POP, Marvel, DV, Star Wars, Doctor Who, you name it, it's probably there.  I could have gone nuts in here but instead just browsed in awe at the shelves and displays of vintage toys and those still mint on card!

There wasn't as much as what can be seen in the photos on their facebook page as apparently there was a massive garage sale where a large bulk load of stuff was moved!.

Go Figure Collectables: 951 Sydney Road, Coburg North

I'd been trying to find this place for awhile now and thanks to google street view, managed to place it.  Has more current items than vintage but still a decent range to choose from.  Mostly pop culture line, some DC and Marvel, lots of Pop Vinyl figs and wrestling.

Toys'N'Stuff: 60 Silverdale Road, Eaglemont (Only open Saturdays from 10:30-3pm)

I've just come from spending $100 here and walking away with two MOC Storm figures, 2 x MOC ROC G.I Joes and 3 MOC Robotech figurines. This place is chocked full of goodies! Box full of original MOC TMNT ($45 each i think), Star Wars galore, a wall full of Marvel Legends figures ($20-$45) some classic G.I joe items in boxes, He Men vintage - plus a castle greyskull, I saw two A-Team MOC sets, smurfs, Star Trek, so so good! Cash only, but can also pay via paypal in store!

Any other recommendations?

Wowsers! I wonder if I could convince my partner to take a trip to Melbourne to buy (more) toys. Probably not.

I just returned from visiting the rellies in Melbourne and hit up a couple of shops while I was down there.

Probably the most interesting was out in Boronia in the mall.
TOYZONE
Ph 0422 924 625
Shop 26B (On Level 1)
Cnr. Floriston & Chandler Roads

I could have easily spent up in there. Some really collectible stuff, fairly new Hot Toys, Transformers, Figma/Revoltech etc, but also old (not quite vintage) stuff. I saw Indiana Jones figures, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Dragonball Z, Batman TAS stuff, Kenner DC Super Heroes, 90s X-Men stuff.

I'm forgetting a lot of it, but at the time is was like walking through a toy time machine. I think he said he would be shut all this week though. His prices seemed fairly reasonable. At least compared to eBay and Alternate Worlds.

Oh, yeah. I also hit up Alternate Worlds. Both in Bayswater and Ringwood. They aren't cheap but they seem to have a lot of the new stuff that I've had trouble getting anywhere else. Like Emma Frost from the recent Wolverine Legends line, the NECA Aliens Genocide pack and a great selection of Marvel Universe 3.75" figures.

If the emma frost is in the $25-$30 range then its a good deal, its came only one in every case.

I am going there next week, going to see their ML...decent price.

MLs were around $35. I'm pretty sure Emma was the same price as the others.

MU were $20-22 I think.

SW Black Series 6" started at $50! Sandtrooper a whopping $60.

$35 is a good price for Emma as she was limited.

Sandtrooper that's ridiculous and I only paid $20 for them and I have 3 of them at home. I am still 50/50 on this line just the quality is not that great.

Evil Empire is awesome, I went there back in June and was amazed at the amount of stuff available, truely packed to the rafters! It's pretty full on, you'll either need something specific you're looking for or spend half a day in here as it's extremely packed. They have some 60's-70's comics available too at good prices which are nigh on impossible to find in person in Australia anymore. My wife was a bit freaked out, I think it got her concerned that our house will one day look like that store lol Highly recommended!

I found they guy who owns it is remarkably well knowledgeable about his entire stock (don't know how in that place!) but I asked if he had something and bam, he's pulling down figures and boxes hidden under other figures and containers!

Super nice guy, great place, and for his comics and some stock figure items, really good pricing!
