What are the oldest toys you have

Post by Pixo on Tue Jun 04, 2013 7:13 am

I found my original Kenner Star Wars figures from the 70-80s (OT) last night.

What are the oldest toys you still have?

Hmmmmmm. Somewhere I have my "first" teddy bear stored away. It would be around 30 years old.

Also in storage is my Lego collection, unless it has been accidentally thrown away by my mother. I vaguely recall that my McDonalds Happy Meal toys are also stored somewhere.

That's about it. My mother made me send all my toys to my younger cousin when I was a teenager. My aunt promptly turned around and sold them all at a garage sale! I wasn't allowed to keep anything except for my Lego and the Happy Meal toys probably escaped the clean out because they were in a separate box.

Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain, both currently in my MOTUC display, although neither are complete. The shells are still intact and fine. I still remember my sister waking me up one Christmas morning to "spoiler" me that I got Snake Mountain. Can't remember getting Grayskull, probably too young. The Grayskull drawbridge and one of the tower platforms were bought off eBay a while back to replace what went missing over the years.

A soft toy of Alexander Bunyip, an old ABC show - got it for Xmas in 1984.

I've managed to acquire a pretty close to complete vintage MOTU collection - so some old stuff there, but only recently mine.

I've got my original Cosmos and Sludge transformers... possibly my oldest toys... oh, and some smurfs that are older than time... those are all from my childhood. There may be older stuff in there, but it wasn't stuff I grew up with.

While it wasn't my first stuffed animal, I still have a koala that my grandma bought me when I was 3 (1984). I was throwing a hissyfit at a zoo & wouldn't get off the ground, so gran bought the bear to shut me up. Laughing

Oldest toy I have? Hmmm. Guess that would be my train set houses/people/vehicles. Some of them are not looking so great...thanks to my friends & I putting those aluminium foil ping pong ball explosive things in the buildings & filming it go off. No

I still have my Crash Test Dummy car & motorcycle. No dummies anymore, but the vehicles aren't in bad shape. Missing a few bits.

I remember those. But, I don't think I had any of them. I guess I had other priorities during the six month period when they were the hottest toys on the shelves.

Kenner C-3PO I bought in 1978 for $1.99 (well, my mum bought it for me) from Coles in Fremantle. I can still remember sitting in the car on the way home opening him and reading the instructions that were printed on the card behind the figure explaining how to loosen his joints for play Smile

So jealous I lost my Biker Scout pistol and they are fairly rare now and usually go for money out of my price range. i will replace it one day. I had a Darth Vader lightsaber as well that made a noise when you swung it at high enough speed. I have never seen one  of those for sale.

Ah that's a bummer Crying or Very sad, they are quite scarce, not sure how mine survived the sell-off tbh...
I remember those lightsabers! - they used the air movement to generate the sound I think...had many duels with those, think they may have had green ones also?

Great topic, Pixo!

Well, while there's still some pretty old Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars at my Mum's... and I've still got my G1 Transformers floating around (although they are well worn) as well as some M.A.S.K. vehicles and Voltron figures/cats...

...if we are just talking about what I still consider as being "part of my collection", then its either going to be...

1. my original TMNT toys - 1988
2. this guy - 1988...

...whom NECA are kindly upgrading for me this year...
3. or this guy, on the right - 1990

...who, even though he came out later chronologically, this is the one I credit with getting me started on action figures.

I still have my 70's giant sized Kenner Alien kicking around somewhere, or what's left of him anyway. I saw recently that they are re-releasing that at some point, too.

I also still have my old school (all black, original) life sized Han Solo Blaster as well. Still works last I checked, too.

I'm sure I have stuffed toys packed away that are older, but as far as actual toys go, those would be it.

Wow! That's freakin awesome Draose!!

Did you buy them as an adult collector? Or did you just take really good care of your toys back in the 80's?
