Marvel Legends 2013 - Series 2 (ROML Series 5?)

Post by awe on Mon May 13, 2013 6:56 am

So these went up for pre-order on BBTS last week and it was funny as I was only just remarking to someone how I wanted the 90s Jean Grey and was worried it was going to be one of the "variant"/running change figures that Hasbro does on this line and that NO ONE EVER SEES!

http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=HAS22825&mode=retail

Well, seems like there are 3 variations on Jeannie? *sigh*

I was tempted to pre-order Jean but with only a 1:3 chance!?!?! I may have risked it but I really hate the short-hair version with the hessian sack(?). Is this an Age Of Apocalypse version or from some other Mutant X-over that I've missed?

I also got told that Punisher and Ultimate Cap are getting another run in this series which also looks to be the case. Not even any variations... just the same figs and the same Punisher/Blade randomness.

As proof...who knows it may be a code name for Blade Smile

Google led me to the answer on Fwoosh. Apparently the hessian sack is a costume Jean was in when Rick Remender was doing Uncanny X-Force.

Pass.

Which tied in with the Age of Apocalypse universe so it's a AoA Jean.

Enjoy the Jean you get because we'll never see the other two.

I'll be getting the yellow costume Jean...by whatever means necessary!

Only been waiting 15 years for her.

Just hope the final product has a nice face.

We haven't received the variants from the last two series so what makes you think these will actually ship?

Sounds like Marvel Legends (and Marvel Universe) aren't going to be continuing much longer as lines in their own right. Which kind of sucks, because I just felt like they got back on track with Legends in particular.

OnePerCase wrote:Marvel Universe AND Marvel Legends as we know them today, will both be ending after this year.  Going forward, figures in these two scales and formats will be rolled into movie tie-in waves, just as we've seen with Iron Man 3 Legends and Wolverine Legends this year.

I think they did the Iron man 3 movie legends OK. We got an Ultron and a cool BAF.
Think about what movies are coming out and the possibilities:
Thor-we could get a SIF?
Cap/Winter soldier-Batroc the leaper??
Guardians of the galaxy-sooo many possibilities
Ant-man-Wasp and ant man and many other possibilities
Days of future past

So they could do some good things. Plus more chance of mass retail release here ala Target toy sale!!

Good point Otter. Whether they are called "Marvel Legends" or not is not the be all and end all. As long as they are 6" Marvel comic action figures with the same articulation and sculpting they have been putting out over the years I will continue to buy them. The only thing that worries me a little is if they are doing themed waves based on what ever movies they are churning out in any given year then does that mean in a year with say no X-Men or Avengers movies will there not be any action figures related to those titles. Hope it is fully answered on Sunday's Marvel panel. Love what has been shown so far. Smile

...and on top of that, the variants from the past 3 series (including the Rocket series) are now cancelled.

No Blade, no white Phoenix, no Moonstar, no classic Hawkeye, etc...

They're going to try to get as many of them out here and there in future movie waves, but as of right now, they're all no longer scheduled for release. Sad

Hasbro confirmed that all the variants we've been waiting on have not even been made yet. Even if they were, apparently there's no "retail space" available at the bricks and mortar stores. So basically you're not getting Blade, Danni, etc, for the foreseable future.

Re: Marvel Legends 2013 - Series 2 (ROML Series 5?)

Post by The Iceman on Sun Jul 21, 2013 4:35 pm

Copied this straight from the Hasbro/Marvel panel from SDCC13 earlier today and it contradicts what has been stated in another site as stated above by fishmilkshake (I also read the same article).

Marvel Legends:

The final wave of Marvel Legends as we know it will be Marvel Now Thor, Agent Venom, Tigershark with swap Radioactive Man, Moonstone with swap Songbird and Blizzard with swap Batroc. Jubilee is the BAF. Jubilee will mark a new mold with a new teenage female body.

2014 Marvel Legends will be merged with the various movie lines but we will still see the same quality and obscure characters. They won't all be movie based characters.

Marvel Now Captain America and Baron Zemo (Comic) will be in the Captain America Legends line, Red Skull Movie, AIM Soldier (Movie). These originally would have been a swap. The best way to ensure to get these is to pre-order an entire case online when they go up for order. This will be like the Giantman wave from Toy Biz that was released by Toy Biz. The BAF for the Cap line will be an army builder.

For Spider-Man Legends we will see a comic version of Black Cat which uses the Moonstone body and Ultimate Green Goblin will be a BAF.

Star-Lord comic will be coming to 6" next year.

There will be some more reveals tomorrow in the Hasbro booth after the Movie panels later tonight.

If sales are good into 2014 for Marvel Universe we could see things like that Devil Dinosaur seen in Hasbro's diorama case be made.

Panel images uploaded.

The variants for the first 3 waves have been made so it only makes sense for them to find some way to release those figures, likely as an exclusive.

Jesse Falcon feels very good with how Hasbro is now structuring these Marvel Universe and Legends lines around the movie properties and how it will allow them to get the type of products collectors want.

Hasbro's corporate policy makes it so the brand team can't communicate directly with fans on message boards. They watch them but can respond on them. Hasbro Q&A's might come back.

Jesse Falcon says Marvel is very happy with how Hasbro has been handling the Marvel line and they know it's not easy to do in today's market and conditions. Since the relaunch of Legends he could not be more proud with the work Hasbro has done.

A bit of corporate back slapping going on there but also what could be a better plan to get Legends back into the toy aisles on a consistent basis. We as collectors must still remember the basic reason for toys being made and although I am not a huge fan of movie figures or the Ultimate Universe perhaps the kids are. If Marvel can churn out 3 movies a year plus an exclusive or two assortment it will probably be enough to keep me interested. Personally can't see what is hard about slotting the variants that are supposedly made already into the assortments that will accompany the movies. Also perhaps the corps. should put somebody out there that can answer questions from fans honestly and keep people informed between NYTF and SDCC each year. Peeves me to see figures on show that after waiting months you may never get them but are expected to get excited about new reveals that in 6 months time may also not eventuate. Got that off my chest. Wink

Cool figures. That is quite a nice 6" Widow.

Love that Blackcat on the Moonstone buck too. It is a much nicer looking body than the thin one.
