Star Wars Black Series

Post by awe on Wed Jan 30, 2013 2:51 am

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/movies/2013/01/29/hasbro-star-wars-black-series-action-figure-toys/1872035/

This sounds like my kinda thing. I'm in.

I was around for the debut of Power Of The Force and Marvel Legends and this feels like a little of both. Plus, I had no idea Hasbro was getting help from Gentle Giant. That totally makes sense and is probably why the return of Marvel Legends is kicking a whole lot more a$$?

Sounds awesome! That Luke looks great too, I'll be getting these for sure, I know they tried getting into this scale once before but they were very stylized and preposed but the line failed I think due to SW fans being more accustomed to articulation and authenticity to the movies.

Sounds fantastic. And the proto-type for Luke looks pretty fantastic.

But, I'm not interested in any of the announced characters, except for R2-D2 and I'm not sure I'm willing to "start" a collection with only R2-DR.

Hopefully the second series will be revealed/announced at the upcoming Toy Fair and that will help me to make a final decision.

Lol, the blurb at the top of the article says it "will focus on characters from the original movie trilogy". Then they announce the first four figures and one of them is Darth Maul?? Razz

I'm down for this, but I'm going selective. All OT and will focus on the major characters. Which means I'll nab R2 from the first wave only. Will wait for a different Luke (although he looks amazeballs) and will only get classic Stormtroopers. Don't need a Sandtrooper.

Only character outside of the OT I'll even consider is Mace Windu.

Easy pass for me - too much invested in the 4 inch line.

This could be a whole new problem for me. They could have saved me a fair amount of customising if they'd released these sooner. I don't collect anything other than 6 inch figures and TFs... I can't wait!

WOOHOO! I'm in!

I was there in 1977 and got all the "12 back" figures. I love the 6" scale so this is a massive win for me.

It appears that Boba Fett will be the SDCC exclusive: http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/The_411_Hasbros_SDCC_2013_Exclusives_150139.asp

I would not be surprised to see him repainted as Jango Fett in like series 2 or something. LOL. Razz

Pics of R2D2, Darth Maul and Sandtrooper: http://jediinsider.com/images.php?mode=album&album=2013_New+York_Toy_Fair%2FHasbro%2F6_Inch_Star_Wars_Black&dispsize=600&start=0&sl=267|14528

Also Boba Fett SDCC exclusive will come with Han Solo in Carbonite. It appears there will be a regular series version without it.

All look really nice although I'm kinda indifferent about the Maul but starting a line from scratch is quite refreshing - hopefully somehow Amanaman will make his way in there!
R2 is indeed great and bodes well for a good R5D4 too

I just hope we don't get the Mattel MOTU agony of seeing the big guns dragged out over years.

Yep can definitely see the core characters getting a good run, hopefully not just rehashed like Tat luke in the POTF2 days, much less appropriate in a larger scale & price point...

Back in the day I would have been all over these, but I'm just not much of a figure collector any more. I guess I'll just have to admire from afar.

God, I want that SDCC exclusive so bad it hurts!

Chances are slim to none though. They might put some up on hasbrotoyshop.com again, but I'm not going through the hopshopgo experience.

Logically, I know that Boba Fett will be in Series 2 or whatever, but ar jeez... they are killing me.

Yeah, that's going to be the exclusive part I bet. A really nice accessory to have. And also the shots of the packaging look really sweet! I doubt I could bring myself to open it.

Anyone going to SDCC this year and not desiring this?

Wow, gotta get me one of these. Love the Carbonite Han.

So the RRP at the Hasbro booth is $44.99. Has anyone seen the pre-order/sell prices on eBay $150 to $200. Ouch!
