What are the ways to pick up your mail on AUSPost?

Post by sher1888 on Wed Jan 02, 2013 9:10 am

Any advice on picking up mails on AusPost?

I am currently working and finishing AusPost hours and I know you can collect it before 8pm behind the shop.Any other ways e.g. can you do the same thing after 5pm?

Mail pick up from the drivers is usually 6pm from store locations (well, in my area anyway) I have had the same issue myself in the past, the only solution I've come up with is getting someone else to pick stuff up for me. Really a nothing answer, but i assume closing hours are closing hours.

be careful too, because if parcels are not collected in a set amount of time they get sent back to sender, and if thats international it becomes a huge pain in the arse.

It really depends on your local Post Office, our old one had a really neat service where you could pick parcels up from the service entrance from 6am (so it meant we could pickup stuff the next day before work) but our current one doesn't have that service (but they are open until 5:30pm so it's just a mad scramble).

I've been reading about a new service from Australia Post featuring parcel lockers, they sound very similar to the PO Box service but it is free. I haven't tried it yet but they only drawbacks I've seen are that you need to specify additional address details to the sender (this could be an issue if updating shipping details on subscriptions on matty as that is sometimes fraught with difficulty) and it's not available to all post offices:

I use a parcel locker and it is AWESOME! I would highly recommend them, IF there is one in your area.

My local PO is closed on Sats except during near Holiday period such as late November.

Parcel locker is free but its in the northern areas pretty far, also I heard you have a limited time to pick it up and specific couriers.

I can only get mail (I mean Toys) from 6:45 am at the back door of A-Post.

Absolutely.

I've been using a Parcel Locker for the past 4 months, and it's FANTASTIC.

There's size restrictions (no packages over 60x60x40cm), and you can't get anything that requires a signature sent there (eg. UPS), but overall, I've found it to be ideal.

If you have a Parcel Locker location near you, get one. thumbs up1

I believe that's the eventual plan.

A future where people go to the distribution centers to pick up their own mail, no delivery driver (or fuel) to pay, no desk staff to pay, just the sorters already there allocating to lockers, and the customer does the legwork, any time they want (within the 48 hour pick-up period).

Picked up my mail at the counter...their service officers are awful. The person actually thought I was stealing my mail which I provided numerous identification and was told off to not press the small signature screen where it says "press to sign".I would blasted this person just not in the mood after arguing with this person.

I think its better if you pick it up behind the back door before 9 am or parcel locker.
