Evil Horde - Octavia

Octavia

SCB's Power Con images

Cornboy has confirmed on FB:
The tentacles won't be bendy. Her head isn't pushed all the way down in that pic.

She turned out pretty much perfect!

Ideally I'd love her tentacles to be bendy, but we know Mattel can't pull that off (for some reason).

VERY cool.

I'm interested to see how much movement can be obtained with the ball-jointed tentacles given her hair appears to be sculpted pretty closely to her back.

I also wish the tentacles were closed in colour to her skin. I realise they were slightly different shades of green in the Filmation cartoon, but the difference in colour in the proto-type seems a little too extreme.

Still, an absolutely fantastic addition to The Evil Horde!

I hadn't noticed the differing colour of the tentacles...with the toy or with the on screen character!

In the initial image they revealed the tentacles look a darker green, but in the Power Con pics they look blue.

Hopefully in person they are greener.

Nice. I do wonder how the hair sculpt will accommodate movement of the tentacles, without forcing Octavia's head into odd positions (either straight down or straight up).

Hopefully there is plenty of room between her back and her hair for movement of the supposedly ball-jointed tentacles.

Just watched the Power Con videos. ToyGuru said Octavia's hair does not interfere with her tentacles.

She received the best reaction of the new reveals at the panel:

From SpiritofGrayskull RE: Tentacles

"Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that this big a change could be made this far along if it were feasible. TG may expand on this but what we already know is that King Hisss as a figure was literally too expensive for what he was sold for (meaning Mattel actually took a loss on that particular figure) so it's possible the material used to make that more durable type of bendy is just too expensive to be used again. Also, the material used in Snout Spout broke often enough for it to be a concern to Mattel and fans alike. I'm sure Design would rather wait to use that material again until it's more dependable. It's a hard choice to make: An Octavia figure that looks amazing but with less mobility in the tentacles or one that might offer more mobility but could potentially wind up with four broken tentacles. It may not please everyone but at the end of the day they erred on the side of caution to ensure we get a great looking Octavia figure that stays great looking for a long time."

VERY nice.

Although, I'm a little disapponted that they didn't include any cut joints/swivel joints along the length of the tentacles.

As great as Octavia looks, I fear that she will need to be at the very back of my display so that she has a "wall" to support her and her many limbs!

She will be a hard one to work into the display.

I really hope the crotch issue there is simply with this sample. Not sure why they can't join the tunic underneath.
