Wow, that sucks simmo. I hope you get back into it, I knew most of the spoilers before I saw it and it was still really good.

Oh, and please remember - TV show is much better than the comics! Wink

That was my main point of interest....I know that the tv series has a huge following and the dvd's are always advertised etc I was just surprised that this seemed to carry over to comics in the sales numbers....I generally think (purely based off most of my mates) that watching/enjoying a series/movie/videogame would never lead them to a comic store ever.

I bought the 20th aniversary Streetfighter book for a mate as a thankyou present and he abosultely loved it.....but never would have known about it in a million years,

Yeah I have to say I'm not all that interested in the comics - only getting some at the moment because season 8 is in comic form (oh how I wish it were live action).

I don't really see the popularity in it, but I'm guessing there must be a fair few comic lovers that enjoy Buffy and a fair few Buffy lovers that have found out about the comics...

Yeah, I don't think the comic series would bring new buyers into comic shops...the single issue sales are probably reflective of Buffy & Joss Whedon fans amongst people who already buy comics.

I reckon the trades will pull really big sales in normal bookstores though.

I came late to Buffy and was actually converted to this by my, now, wife.

My take is that Buffy is akin to Spider-man in that the adventure/action of each episode is an aside to the real story; with great power comes great responsibility.

I own the whole series on DVD and collect the Series 8 comic in singles. The comic loses a bit of impact, in the same way that a Ross/Krueger comic does if you read it monthly, in that it really needs to be read an arc at a time.

That being said, Issue 5 was an absolute standout and as powerful a comic, Buffy or otherwise, as I've read for a long time.

Yeah was worried about this happening so I went with the trade option.

Do the trades have the cover pictures on them? I have some of the singles but I'm thinking I'm too lazy to get them all.

I'm pretty sure they either show the individual covers at the back of the trade or at the start of each new section.
