Post by The Iceman on Sat Feb 11, 2012 4:14 am

Just 24 hours to go to the start of the annual New York Toy Fair (Feb.12 - Feb.15) with some early previews trickling through on the Toyark website.
What are you guys all looking forward to the most? Smile

Obviously, more MOTUC reveals. But anything new is interesting to see. Personally hope there's not too much more revealed that I don't know about. My wallet needs some relief.

Would love an Ecto-1 for the Mattel Ghostbusters line, but I'm sure it would be an SDCC reveal if at all. Sadly, I don't see them doing one after the Hot Wheels Elite ones. :/

Looking forward to:

- Mattel's MOTUC action figure reveals (fingers crossed for a female member of The Great Rebellion);
- Playmate's TMNT Retro/Classics action figure reveals (mainly better photos and any additional information);
- Mattel's DCUC action figure reveals, although I'm really only interested in a "DC52" Wonder Woman;
- Hasbro's Marvel Legends action figure reveals, although I'm really only interested in a "first appearance" Storm;
- Mattel's Toy Story action figure reveals (if any); and
- anything "new", for example, action figures based on the classic "The Addams Family", Starz's "Spartacus" or the UK version of "Being Human".

I think it's hilarious how the majority of Jazzwares MK display is empty packages with cardboard figures in them.....probably a better tactic than putting their actual figures in there tho.....again so disapointing

Tragic really. Especially since they told us Sonya was sculpted ages ago....where is she Jazwares??

The display piece they had on display was cool though:

The regular versions of Jax & Reptile were shown:

Agree Mahzian, I was undecided at first to get the sub but then thought what the heck.
Very happy to get Poison Ivy and Platinum & Tin. Hopefully Lead is on the agenda with their larger figures so I can close out the Metal Men. Smile

ooo ivy looks nice. So you need a subscription to get those eh? Not that keen.

GB Zuul is pretty cool, and love the dio for MK stuff, WANT.

if there are any MK Heads who want another company to take a stab at the licence, sycocollectibles had a facebook page saying if they got 300 likes they'll look into the making of figures, and that would be quite promising if they did do it !

I quite like their statues they were doing

^^^^

A limited amount of DCUC figures will also be available for "cherry pickers" on mattycollector.com at a higher price (I *think* $22.00 per figure).

So, it will be possible (in theory) to grab a Poison Ivy, depending upon how much "day of sale" stock Mattel produces.

Not quite what I was hoping for, but it will probably do - DST Marvel Select First Appearance Storm:

http://toyfair12.asmzine.com/gallery/diamond-select-toys/slides/DSC04334.html

I still hope Hasbro release their proto-type First Appearance Storm one day. And I still await the day when someone has the licence to make action figures based on the Amalgam universe.

OMG I saw a pic of Guardians of the Galaxy set!! 3/3/4 but better then nothing. It has Groot (small pot sized) Rocket Racoon, Starlord and Draxx.
Pity there is no Gamora.
Looking at all the Marvel galactic toy releases there must be big things in the comics for 2012 for a galactic comeback!

No images were allowed of The Bridge Direct, Inc: 'The Hobbit' products.

But there was some good news on the line:

•Will the line skew more towards kids or collectors?
As a line that will be available at mass market retailers, of course there will be product oriented at kids. But as a whole, the line will appeal to the collector segment.

•Four or six-inch scale?
Both!

•Sculpt detail, paint, articulation consistent with Toy Biz’s LOTR line?
Lots of head nodding.

•Shelf dates?
Expect toys to hit shelves as soon as October, but in force for the holidays – late November and December.

•They expect a strong lead-in from Lego, who will have LOTR Legos on shelves this summer and Hobbit Legos hitting the same time as Bridge’s Hobbit toys.

"I was very glad to hear that not only does Bridge know about LOTR and Toy Biz, the company actually has former Toy Biz folks in their employ – some as part of the company and some on a contracting basis."
