New DC Lego sets out at Big W

Post by The Iceman on Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:56 am

Just spotted in Big W Parabanks (S.A.) a range of new DC Lego playsets including the Batcave set, Catwoman chase, Two-Face set and a couple more to get all you Lego collectors excited.
Might be tempted myself to get a couple. Happy hunting. Smile

So very tempting - especially the Superman, Wonder Woman and Lex Luthor construction set.

Does anyone know what Lego's ultimate plans are for the DC and Marvel licences? Will they be releasing the various superheroes individually or only in the various construction sets? What is the likelihood that they'll at least do a "Hall of Justice" or an "Avengers/X-Men Mansion" playset with the primary members of the respective teams?

I've been out of the Lego loop for a very long time, but I'm hopeful that there will be a way to assemble the Justice League, Avengers, X-Men, etc without having to buy an assortment of expensive construction sets.

Lego seem to only release an initial wave of licensed stuff(not including star wars) but there is a new Lego Batman game coming out too, so who knows!!

Got the Lex Luthor power armor set the other night, I admit it was mostly for the Superman and Wonder Woman minifigures but this set was totally awesome and heaps of fun to make, some really odd elements in that set but it all works well together

These sets seem to be selling REALLY fast at the Big W's I've visited (mainly due to the lowest prices I think) the Brisbane city Big W only had a few small set left and 2 Lex Armour sets and no Batcave / Batmobile or Batwing sets, another at Mt Omany (sp) only had one Batcave and Batmobile set left (which I got).

There seems to be a fair few in Target of each set though, but the Batcave is $130 (compared to $117) so prices are a bit higher.

Mr Toys Toyworld in the city had all the sets last week at around the same prices as Target. I haven't seen Joker's fun house yet though, maybe it's a store exlusive? (TRU?)

They sure are proving popular. All the smaller sets are gone from my local Big W. Only one Batcave left on the shelf. Smile

Never seen it in person, it's the last set I need of the series, think it might be an exclusive that an Oz store hasn't picked up, which sucks if true as it has some really neat minifigs!

@Pixo Went to toys r us highpoint today to lay by a set. Here are their requirements for lay bying:

$10 LAY BY FEE
$2 FOR EACH ADDITIONAL DAY THEY HAVE THE ITEM (i'm assuming this is charged if you don't pick it up on time ...???...)
$200 MINIMUM TOTAL OF ITEMS BEING PUT ON LAY BY

Total whack. Didn't end up buying a set or lay bying a set. Was shocked by their lay by requirements. Might as well buy it somewhere online and get it shipped to me.

It was good to see in person though, might go back for it next week when I've got $100 to blow.

Yikes, those layby conditions are pretty crazy, especially the $2 a day business! Last time I checked (years ago) my local TRU didn't do layby but maybe they have adopted this now, although with those insane conditions I don't think I'd use it on principal...

Why is the shipping on lego.com so insanely expensive? :S
