Toy Awards for 2011... suggestions?

Post by Jor-El on Wed Nov 02, 2011 12:43 pm

Hey guys

I'll soon be opening up voting for the annual OzFigurama Toy Awards (now in it's 3rd year!) but was looking for some input.

I have the following award categories for people to vote on:
- Toy of the year
- Line of the year
- Company of the year
- Art-based figure of the year
- Reality-based figure of the year
- Large scale item of the year
- High-end piece of the year
- A "custom" award for voters to come up with an inventive award
- Biggest joy of the year
- Biggest pain of the year
- What you're looking forward to next year
- Out-of-left-field idea for a toy(s)

If anyone has anything they think isn't covered but should be, post here and if I like it (or if a number of posters back up the idea in this thread), I'll make it an award for everyone to vote on.

Some things I am considering (looking for feedback on whether or not to have them):
- Dud of the year (ie. the worst toy or line)
- Best packaging
- Best display (ie. have OzFigurama members submit pics of their current display to be voted on)

So, any ideas... fire them through!

I second "Best Display".

Seeing other people's displays is always a great inspiration for me, even though my display is currently a major mess.

Sadly, I'm seriously so far out of the loop I don't have anything to suggest. I guess MotU will feature heavily.

Jor-El Neca terminator figures just the detailing is like Mcfarlane figures.

Also Mattel being consistent with their figures of DC.

Hasbro is the worst for me, do not like the marvel universe or star wars figures too small.

I can vouch for how awesome and cool the new talking Sentinel from Hasbro is. I have taken mine out of the box and set it up with some Marvel Universe figures in one of my dioramas. Smile

I'll post some links for toy review websites when voting opens so people can have a looksee to jump their memory. Any other websites will be welcome (either in this thread or the official vote thread).

Lol. It'll be for everyone to vote on. I wouldn't expect to win. My display is fair stock standard.

I wish i could add to this, but it's quite hard, and I'm finding that I have to narrow down the scope of toys due to increased costs.

I think best display is cool idea, but hard to judge, but I do like seeing everyones setup. I think we're all in teh same boat of 'display is still a work in progress' even if its been WIP for years, well at least for me it is lol.

"most anticipated rumour' if its not covered, but not sure if theres much going in that regard

It'll be a fun read though im sure!
