Oz Comic-Con

Post by BoloMusashi on Sat Oct 22, 2011 9:44 am

Looks like there is a new comic convention\pop culture expo on the Aussie calendar next year.

From their FB page

"Adelaide Oz Comic-Con will be held on March 30th and April 1st 2012.
So far our amazing guest line up includes Jewel Staite (Firefly/Serenity), Teryl Rothery (Stargate SG1), Stewart McKenny (Star Wars) and Nicola Scott (Wonder Woman) with more to be announced!

Melbourne Oz Comic-Con will be held on June 30th and July 1st 2012.
So far our amazing guest lineup inludes none other than STAN LEE himself! Along with Ryan Robbins (Sanctuary), Sean Maher (Firefly/Serenity), Armin Shimmerman (Deep Space Nine), Jason Palmer, Scott Allie (Editor of Darkhorse), Stewart McKenny (Star Wars), Francis Manapul (The Flash), Nicola Scott (Wonder Woman), Agnes Garbowska (You, Me and Zombie)."

The official website - http://www.ozcomiccon.com/

This could be an opportunity for an OzFigurama roadtrip. Hopefully this time I can greet Stan without crushing his hand .... Bolo strong.

First year up and running so I guess they still have to sort out venues, talent etc. According to some Aussie members on another site, the people behind OCC (Oz Comic Con) attended some of the Supanovas this year to gather information.

I know Supanova Perth is on mid-June next year so they probably want to run the event in a timeslot that doesn't result in the two cons competing,

The Queen herself wont even come to Sydney. there is a conspiracy afoot.
The road/plane trip sounds like fun, put me down as tentative.

Yeah pop culture roadtrips are the best - the people, the cons, the locations and the comic shops. I'm hoping to do a three con tour June\July next year - Denver Comic Con, HeroesCon and SDCC. Definitely in for Adelaide OzCC and a maybe for Melbourne at this stage.

Some new guests recently announced on their FB page:
- Tia Carrere [Melbourne]
- Jonathan Frakes [Adelaide]
- Sir Patrick Stewart [Melbourne]

I'm hoping for more comic-related talent.
