Who are your favourite authors?

Post by Blaster on Sat Oct 01, 2011 4:31 pm

On Tuesday 27/09/2011 I was saddened by the passing of one of my favorite authors, Sara Douglass. For any one that doesn't know Sara she was an Australian author who wrote 2 series of fantasy novels and a series of novels set in the dark ages.
It got me thinking who are my favorite authors, whose books do I read over and over again, whose books do I reread in preparation for a new book in a series....

My favorites would be as follows

Raymond E Feist
Terry Goodkind
Robin Hobb
Matthew Reilly - particularly Scarecrow novels
R.A. Salvatore - mainly Drizzt Do Urden

Sara Douglass would have been on this list but to my knowledge she has no books left to be published.

Terry Pratchett is another favorite however I generally only read most of his books once although the exception to this rule is Mort which is one of my favorite all time books
I do read a lot of other books as well however they are generally not series of books they are either standalone or books about war through the ages.

Clive Barker. I've just ordered the latest in his Abarat series (Absolute Midnight) from Amazon. Looking very much to reading this as its been a number of years since the second book in this series was released.
