Marvel Universe X-Men Box Set.

Post by TahmidN on Sun May 22, 2011 3:41 pm

Yo, so for you guys who are into MU.
At my local ToysRus, they have that new X-Men boxset, the one based off the international team. Figures looked decent for the scale, but i couldn't justify paying the price which was 69.99. What do you guys think?

How many figures in the set? And who/what is the international team?

Hi, must admit I had given up on it coming here so I have one coming from the US which has set me back $65.00AUS including shipping. Presentation does look great much like the old TOY BIZ 5 inch boxed set from 10 years back. (which I still have) Smile

Wow, I did not think we would get that. I paid $60 incl shipping from ebay which makes it hard to understand why they are $70 here

Huge surprise. I have a Storm, Storm (variant) and a Thunderbird purchased via evilbay (from the US - variant from China) arriving sometime this week (perhaps next week for the China purchase). I would have waited and purchased here if I had known.

It's a very cool set.

Thunderbird & Storm are the only figures I'd really need. That Wolverine is nice too.

I saw the figures in store, the paint looks good on them.

There was a 6 to 8 inch (depends on the character) box-set of that back in 1998.I believe its the same name "Giant Size X-men", but only slight difference, Wolverine and Cyclops are not on it.Instead you have Sunfire and Banshee.

It would cost you around $100 in ebay .MU universe version is worth getting if you collect MU.

In your PM the pics of that original Toy BIZ boxset of the 90's.Sadly it would not let me post pics or links.

No problems, I still have that set so here are the pics.

This set was one of three Toybiz done in the late nineties and they were actually
5inch scale which was the going size of most Toybiz Marvel figures back then.
The first boxed set they did was the original X-Men in original costume and from memory is still the only time Hank McCoy (Beast) has been depicted in his original form.
The second set was this one, the all new X-Men and the third was the original Avengers.
All three sets were well sculpted and presented for their time and are amongst my favorite Marvel figures from then that I have not parted with. Smile Smile

Thanks for the pics , Do you have all three?

I was too young back then, and I only had the xmen .I did not buy the Avengers .I still have the 1991 first xmen toybiz, before the animated series came out on mint.Missing magneto only and Toybiz 90's X-men were my favorite.

Hey Sher, yes I do have all three.
Let me go through a few boxes tomorrow, I reckon I have that first release Magneto on card (in pretty good nick) along with some others stored in a Copy Paper box in the shed with my collection.(Check out some of my figs. in my Toy Cave.)
When I find it it's yours for the cost of postage. I will let you know tomorrow night. Smile
