Jazwares MK & SF

Post by Artistix on Fri May 20, 2011 3:47 am

Thought I would post these here for us:
http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=238&itemid=17252

I don't mind the figures themselves, but I am not a fan of the facial paint work on some of them.

I was just looking at those on TNI!

Articulation at least is looking promising, however the necks seem like they are only pivot not ball which would have been better. They seem to have adopted the new *or not so new* legends elbow joint which si fine, and at least the legs look like good poses can be had.

That said, butt ugly johnny! lol.

I'll be getting them, hopefully they revisit past fails however like baraka whose original was utter rubbish IMO.

And bring out the ladies ! I know sonja is in the works, but come one, Mileena and Kitana are a MUST !!

Get OVAH here!!

Arrgghhhh!!!!

I was just looking at the link and saw that Jazwares are doing Trigun figures. They don't look too good which is disappointing.

I wish Kaiyodo/Toy Tribe continued their line

Yeah, I think Johnny's face could have been a bit more....something...handsome? manly? I dunno, more like the artwork anyway, without the tranny eyebrows:

They have said Sonya is on her way?

The Ninja women would make sense since they can get (in terms of classic representations) Kitana, Mileena, Jade & Scarlet ('Woman in Red' glitch) out of 1 mold.

These arn't too bad bar the heads. (No sure why Johnny Cage is channeling Matrix Spock)

If you compair them with them with Jazwares other outings these are better that there first and second attempts. (Although I think maybe the heads where better last time)

If these where the 4 inch I think most would be okay with them but being the 6 inch there was more expected out of these sculptwise.

Also remember if Jazwares was not doing them no-one else would be doing them as all the majors passed on the licence.

Matrix Spock. Laughing

They are nicer than the originals. I did like the earlier Johnny Cage head better, but the new one is kinda growing on me.

Re: Jazwares MK & SF

Post by Sam on Tue May 24, 2011 4:51 am

THing i don't get is that its like Street fighter has had a few great lines made for them from originally Resaurus, Sota, and NEca, but its like Mortal Kombat which was another big name from the past is the poorer cousin that doesn't get as much love.

Understandably street fighter was more general audience but still, I only remember those MK figures with 'centreing balance' or whatever which looked cool, but I never was able to purchase. Just not as much love for some pretty dang cool characters!

But yeh, looking forward to them none the less, if only because they are the only kid on the block doing them!

There were the GI Joes years ago. Some of them were kinda cool.

The Infinite Concepts figures from 2000 were really nice IMO, though they didn't make it past the first set.

Re: Jazwares MK & SF

There was also a Palisades Series of 8 inch more statue type then figures.

Toy Island also took a crack at them (Trilogy Figures) the 5 inchers where about on a par with the Hasbros GI Joes but bigger. The 10 Inch ones where not bad. (They turned up in droves at KB Toys in the US, how I miss you KB.)

There where also some ones from Argentina from Top Kid or maybe Jocsa which wheren't half bad as well. (Dam you mercadolibre.com and my poor Portuguese & Spanish. This is basicly Ebay for South America.)

I owned just about everything bar any of the Palasades. The infinity Concepts are still the best. Jazwares stuff comes in a very close second. The toy Island 10 inch where good looking but lacked any articulation. I own one figure from the Argentina line (Kano) and if I could ever get any more I would they are kind of neat even though cheaply made, the bases store there weopons. (One thing you will find on Mercadolibre is it very hard to get anyone to ship outside of local.) I still ordering them in when Zoofies/Jazwares finally has details.

Thanks for all that octane. I didn't know about the 10" figures....might have to grab a Jade.

Just looking on eBay at the various MK toys. Hasbro made a pretty cool Dragon Wing...which from memory is the ship that took Cage, Sonya & Liu Kang to the tournament in the movie(?).

This site runs through those Top Kids/Josca Argentinian toys:
http://testyourmight.com/forum/showthread.php?852-Some-very-strange-MK-figure-s-from-Argentina

It notes the figures were originally only released as mail aways with Top Kids magazine, but toy company Josca were soo impressed with the toys they bought the line & re-released the 6 characters made by Top Kids, & then added several more.

lol, well I guess MK got some love but its not quite the quality of love perhaps that SF had. But yeh those infinity concepts definatly were the closest IMO to something worthy, but really ML style artic is what im after personally.

That boat isn't bad actually!

I am going to give Jazwares the benefit of the doubt & buy these. I really want the line to succeed & hopefully the figures will get better as the waves go on, as happened last time.

I didn't buy the line from years ago because they said no females....& that don't fly with Artistix. This time they apparently have Chun-Li & Sonya on the way.

The smaller figures will be my main line, but I will buy the 6" too.

I had mine on preorder with bBTS and the prices were 40 for 3 of the 6 inch figs, and they are doing small lots ofthe 4 inch versions for 25 for 3, which isn't bad until we add shipping.

Dont get me wrong, Im looking forard to these figures especially after playing mk, and I reckon if they did something to cages ears he would be a lot better, but overall they should be fun at least o face off with the sota sf figs =-)

I was just watching a story mode walkthrough of the new game on Youtube.

I say I want them to include the female figures, but I can't imagine how they would be able to release any of the women from the new game as toys. Unless Jazwares intend to alter the outfits.

Re: Jazwares MK & SF

The way I see it, there shouldn't a real good reason not too, as the game is an R18 type game, and therefore little kids shouldn't be playing it as such, and the market the figures would be more aimed at would be those who like the game, and yes i understand brick n mortars wanting to sell to kids but I kinda see the MK aimed at the adult collector or mid to high teens group personally.

So bring em on, in teh scantiness they are! lol

Im actualy making a mileena at the moment, and prob make the other ladies as well cuz i think you are right.

But at least I dont have to make the guys. Their costumes are too freakin detailed in the armour, it would be a nightmare to do!

As folks at Fwoosh pointed out to me, if Hasbro & Mattel can make women with exposed cleavage than Jazwares shouldn't have a problem. (ie: ML Black Widow, DCUC Power Girl)

Mileena's first attire is quite skimpy, but her alternate outfit that she wears when Kitana first finds her in the Flesh Pit is just a few bandages!:

All in all most of them are not showing any more flesh than the MK Trilogy figures:
