^^^^

My total order from Amazon for the four TMNT Classics came to just under $80.00 including postage. So ... they were less than $20.00 each, which seemed like decent value to me since the only other figures I currently collect are MOTUC (normally at least $30.00 each) and DCUC (normally $25.00 at my local comic book store).

Postage for mine was $17ish. But I had the Classics set and the new cartoon set. So 8 figures shipped for 17 bucks and arrives in a week. Madness.

Just an FYI on these... Amazon appear out of the Classics and no longer ship the new cartoon Turtles out to Australia either, which is a damn shame. Glad I got my lot already but sucks as I was planning to maybe grab the vehicles down the track.

Anyone know more about why they don't ship certain things? Is it because retailers here are getting the line or something?

Yes, it is generally because an Australian Distributor is selling the line domestically. Other times it is because the Licensor has only granted the Licensee permission to sell in stipulated markets........and when the Licensee neglects to inform retailers that they cannot ship to customers outside of those markets, product inevitably makes its way across the globe.

When I was younger I had a lot of the TMNT 80's figures but for some reason I never had Bebop or Rocksteady and of course I really wanted them so this news excites me!

Bebop and Rocksteady = AWESOME!

And it indicates that the Retro-Classics line will continue to expand. Otherwise, why would they make Bebop and Rocksteady before Shredder.

Even if Bebop and Rocksteady share parts, I'm sure Shredder could share parts with a Foot Soldier.

I didn't have any of the TMNT figures as a kid, but my friend Kieran around the corner had heaps of them. It was probably several years ago I finally started buying the vintage figures...maybe around the time I started collecting the 2003 line.

But yeah, receiving vintage Bebop & Rocksteady was awesome! They are definately 2 of my faves.

I gather we are seeing Shredder at some point soon?

The new Playmates figures are turning up at K-Mart. I picke dup a few of the 4" ones for $15 each.

Shellraiser van is $59.

A box of 12 appears to be 2x each Turtle and 1x each of Splinter, April, Shredder and Foot soldier. Kinda hard to army build if the Foot are that sparse.

They had some of the 6" figs with interactive sound, etc, but no 6" Classics that I could see.

@ Artistix

That Shredder was part of a "comic book" TMNT that was planned by Playmates at one point in time. The details are fuzzy, but it appears that there was a breakdown in relations between Playmates and NECA who also released "comic book" TMNT figures (that were very well received).

For some reason, in the end, Playmates didn't release ANY of their planned figures and NECA only released the four turtles and April O'Neil, although NECA had revealed a Shredder and an Elite Foot Solider (from memory).

@ fishmilkshake

That's awesome news. I'm tempted by the four turtles since they've been very well reviewed and appear to be a major step-up for Playmates compared to most of their action figures.

Saw the animated Turtles at local K-mart (Garden City), they look pretty neat but I think I'll stick to the Classics, hoping they will show at retail too at some point, still need Don and Raph

We interviewed Randy Falk from NECA on the Action Figure Blues Podcast and I asked him about the NECA turtles. He said that Playmates only agreed to let NECA do the comic line if they were to be sold in specialty stores only, no mass market stores like Walmart, etc, as Playmates had their own brand on shelves. Randy said the sales while good, were not strong enough to maintain the line.

It's a great interview, we're on itunes, go find it Very Happy

Skip to 49 seconds for a first look at the Retro-Classics Bebop and Rocksteady:

http://toynewsi.com/news.php?itemid=19847

I think they look AWESOME! My only minor quibble is that it appears that they may have lost the mid-thigh swivel, although a swivel may have been incorporated into the ball-joint at the top of the leg.

I'm okay with losing the hand and finger articulation (and possible the toe articulation). I do use it with the turtles, but the hand and fingers in particular can be a little annoying when it comes to holding their weapons.
