mr spikey pants arrived today, his weapons were a bit bent from the packing but nothing hot water can't fix, another great addition to the increasing menace on eternian soil!

Some notes from a Toyguru interview:

- Vehicles are not off the table, but they need to sell out of the Wind Raiders before another one can be made. When they first went on sale, they didn't get their entire batch and are now sitting on the rest of the stock. If you want vehicles, buy the Wind Raider.

- Variants look to be off the table for 2014 and 2015. Focus will be on unique characters.

- Beasts in 2014 ans 2015 are not off the table, but Scott is predicting management might cut them. He's going to fight for the same skus as 2013 though. All hypothetical at this point.

Secret Accessory coming:

• Not essential, but cool to have.
• On a scale of 1 (blah) to 10 (totally awesome) Scott ranked it a 7.
• The 4H sculpted it (per Scott), but Eric didn't know what it was exactly.
• It will be polybagged
• It is a weapon
• It was a "happy accident" and they thought about giving it away at SDCC but they didn't have that many. (This made me think it could somehow be a factory error originally... hmmm....)
• It will be available later IF they don't run out of them at PowerCon.

Anyone interested in the Secret Accessory, Fantastic Plastic are doing pre-orders.

Basically, they charge you the price of the Power-Con ticket plus whatever shipping is. Doesn't seem worth $20-30 for a weapon to me, but someone here may be interested.

Very happy to see Octavia! I think she looks great, although the torso/hips appear to have lost some of their bulk (unless it's just the photo).

IF we were still seeing A-List variants, then a Force Captain Adora would be a "must have".

Snake Face was expected. And he looks good. So many accessories! It's amazing how many accessories some figures get while others get so little. Unless the snake staff has been dropped already?

Karatti also looks good and it's good for NA fans to receive another figure.

As for Castle Grayskull, surely they have to release some details - size, dimensions, etc? Even if they do, given that Toyguru appears to have indicated that sales would need to match sales of the 2013 subscription, I'm not sure it will happen. It sounds like MANY fans ordered multiple subscriptions to support the line. I'm not sure they'll be willing to do the same for multiple playsets.

would love a castle greyskull, although for $200 would need a few more details to commit, like you said Xen, size / dimensions would be enough for me, some early artist renditions couldn't hurt either

Thought I'd put this in here. Interesting bio!

Bio

King He-man - Heroic Ruler of Future Eternia
Real Name: Adam of the House of Randor

After his sister defeated Horde prime, the threat of Adam’s old enemy Skeletor once more called He-man to one final battle. In an epic duel on the Jaw Bridge of the great Temple of Power on Trolla, He-man at last defeated Skeletor in single combat. Recovering the Vortex Key, He-man could now return to his home world. There he found his queen mother keeping the throne and mourning the passing of King Randor. Taking his rightful place as his father’s heir, Adam became King He-man ruling over all Eternia with his wisdom and strength. He married Teela and together with their son Dare took over his father’s legacy as the new He-ro, defender of Eternia and the wielder of the Sword of Power.

^^^^

Kind of interesting. I wonder what happens to Adora after she defeats Horde Prime. Does she assume leadership of The Evil Horde and turn it into a force for good? Does she retire to Etheria with Sea Hawk? Does she start a rock band with Glimmer, Castaspella and Frosta as her back-up singers?

The Jaw Bridge at the Temple of Power on Trolla sounds interesting and very similar to Castle Grayskull. And the fact that an epic battle takes place on Orko's home planet cannot be a coincidence.

And Teela is a busy lady. Queen of Eternia. Sorceress of Castle Grayskull. Mother of Dare. I'm torn between hoping that Dare remains the long lost son of Adora and Sea Hawk (although that would indicate that Adora and Sea Hawk are both dead) as was originally planned or that he is the biological off-spring of Adam and Teela. Then again, perhaps he is yet another clone!

Re: The News Thread (aka "Toyguru says...")

Post by Sledge Hammer! on Wed Feb 13, 2013 4:09 pm

Given that I had certain rather unpleasant medical issues last year (hence my sudden and extended absence) I wasn't able to get a sub, so that's me basically done with the line then. I just don't have enough passion left to fight for figures or pay scalper level pricing for everything Matty deems in its wisdom not to put on sale any longer. Especially after already missing a couple of key figures, and not having much hope for getting the ones I'd want the most for the upcoming year.

As such, if anyone is looking to buy into the line, or knows anyone who wants to, I'll be selling off my whole collection soon, at least if I can find anyone who wants to take it as a job lot. Not even looking to may a profit, if I can basically break even I'd be happy.

I know I haven't been around in a while, but I had a good rep when I was a regular back in the day, so if there are no objections I'll list it up in the sale section soon, prior to taking it to ebay. I doubt that there is anyone here with any interest, everyone who wanted in would already be collecting I'd guess, but just figured I'd make the offer here just in case, prior to going over to evil E's online emporium.

Oh, and hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well.

Re: The News Thread (aka "Toyguru says...")

Post by Sledge Hammer! on Fri Feb 15, 2013 10:37 pm

You know, I was convinced to maybe not give up on this line after collecting it for so long by a friend, so I figured, fine, I'll leave it in fate's hands. If I can score both Ram Man and Jitsu during the matty sale then I'll stick with it, if not then perhaps it simply wasn't meant to be. And wouldn't you know it, I got them both, as well as managing to grab a Temple of Darkness Sorceress for cost elsewhere. So I guess just when I thought I was getting out I'm back in again. And somewhere fate is laughing his ass off.

My apologies to anyone who was interested in buying any MOTUC figures from me, but looks like I'm still collecting. For now, at least. Though damn, shipping is getting right up there now, isn't it? $33 just for Ram Man and Jitsu? Ouch.

So, If anyone ends up in the unlikely event of having a spare Fang Man, King He-Man, Strobo, Mosquitor or Mekaneck that they are happy to part with, please, let me know.
