*Jealous*

Hurry up Fisto! Your daughter/neice is running wild around the battleground, staying out way past her bedtime and letting nasty Evil Warriors do shots off her finely sculpted abs.

Someone needs to talk to her about her mummy issues and get her back on the path to near-eternal loneliness and soul-crushing responsibility as The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull!

I'd been meaning to take a new group pic since Catra arrived! So today I finally did.

Didn't have very good lighting unfortunately.

MAJOR improvement on Spector. The Grayskull logo looks much better than a spade.

And I'm sure Bow is pleased to no longer be associated with Spector.

THis morning the answer was 'yes, still waiting' but my posty skillyfully hid my stuff so when I got home tonight I was unpacked Griffiny goodness and man-at-arms snakeyness. Oh and hordeface is pretty neat =-)

Green lion pilot pidge looks great too! man I can't wait for the other two lions!!

Re: The "Arrival" Thread!

Post by Xenaphobia on Mon Jul 16, 2012 11:01 am

Not a "recent" arrival by most people's standards, but I recently purchased the Star Sisters three-pack for a decent price on Ebay and they've arrived.

While I never intended to purchase the Star Sisters, my despondency about the size of my (so-called) Great Rebellion and the fact that they could be acquired relatively cheaply (almost as cheaply as the accessory-free versions from Chinese Ebay sellers) resulted in a purchase.

And I'm really happy with the result. Sure, I still think the toy proto-type colours and designs would have worked better for the figures (especially as they would have looked more like Amazon warriors instead of tea-party attendees), but I'm still really impressed by the figures.

Adding bits and pieces to Tallstar was a lot of fun. Even though I would have preferred to display Tallstar with the arm and leg extensions, but the regular neck, for some reason the head wouldn't sit properly on the "bare" neck, so I need to include the extension there as well. A "waist" extension was sorely needed for the figure!

Starla is pretty cool. I quite like the colours, although it would have been cool to get the original proto-type's one-shoulder armour and perhaps the back-pack could have been re-worked as a shield (which she could wear on her back). I am disappointed that Starla doesn't feature the "good" female legs. It sucks that both Tallstar and Jewelstar don't get the proper legs (because of their diapers), but Starla's skirt would have hidden the articulation.

And finally, my favourite of the trio - Jewelstar. There's not much I don't like about this figure. Sure, the diaper sucks. As dones the limited leg articulation. And the figure would have been far more impressive in "red" instead of fairy-floss pink, but it's still an impressive figure. I really like the face sculpt since it doesn't feature the weird FHM/Maxim cover style open mouth/pout that so many MOTUC females have. And the translucent knees, forearms and cape really work well together. The translucent cape in particular is something I would like to see used on ALL POP figures who had capes - it seems to capture the "prettified" capes of the original toys/dolls very well.

The bird and stand is a waste of plastic that could have been used for Starla's back-pack/shield or a waist extension for Tallstar, but Mattel included it for whatever reason. Actually, was the bird even in the cartoon? It's weird that the figures are based on the cartoon designs, but appear to come with an accessory that was only included with the original proto-types. Just more Mattel wisdom I guess.

In short, the Star Sisters are way cooler than I thought they would be. And She-Ra is very excited to have someone to talk to other than Bow since he incessantly just asks about the relationship status and varied interests of She-Ra's brother.

Managed to cram the Frosta lot onto my MOTUC shelf. Not sure how I'm going to fit much more! especially with Granamyr coming out soon.

*Just noticed I forgot to move Glory Bird back in front of the Star Sisters after inserting Frosta

Re: The "Arrival" Thread!

My partner is awesome. Wink

She doesn't collect figures, but she had said that due to her childhood love of the She-Ra - PoP cartoon, that She-Ra and Swiftwind are the only two that she would like if she ever got any.

So of course I bought MotUC She-Ra for the kids to give to her for Xmas. rendeer

I also bought her Swiftwind and and Bubble-Power She-Ra (to kitbash "Ultimate She-Ra") during the Cyber Monday sale, which just arrived in the mail recently.

I gave her both over the weekend, and to my surprise, did something with the leftover She-Ra bits that I never thoughts of doing... Shocked

Now, many people just put all of the BP gear on the original She-Ra body, and have done with it after using the enhanced BP body with the Filmation head and red cape to make the awesome iconic (and better looking/articulated) She-Ra. Not my girl though... BEHOLD!

http://instagram.com/p/UXlO8QKKvu/

She put the BP armor and accessories on the old body, but instead of the BP head/headress, she placed the vintage-style head/toy orientation mask on it as well, to make the most bad-ass version of She-Ra I've seen yet. Very Happy

After the above photo was taken, m'lady decided that she too prefered the armored She-Ra she had created, so she put all that gear back on the BP body, so now armored She-Ra rides Swiftwind. Cool

My Netossa figure arrived yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised that it only took 4 days to get here via DHL, shipped on the 11th of Jan and arrived on the 14th of Jan. Then again maybe I shouldn't be surprised since the shipping this year costs an arm and a leg! It should dam well get here that quick since we are paying alot more this year.

December sub figs finally arrived - very happy all round here. Procrustus would be my pick of the best one in the big box I got - the detail and sculpting is pretty impressive. Mosquitor is cool too, but I'm a little over him after all of the hoo-hah from Pixel Dan. DCIE figus are nice too, just need Copper and Doc Magnus to complete that team.

My Jan sub figs have been sitting in Brisbane (less than an hour away), suffering from a 'Clearance Delay' - what does that mean anyway??

Oohhhh, I didn't know it was Procrustus time! And soo soon after Granamyr.

Thanks to Paul I had some figures arrive:

Gygor fell over last night. Being at the back he took out a heap of figures. That is ok since I needed to re-word the shelf to fit the new figures anyway.
