Marvel Movies Figures, what do you guys think?

Post by TahmidN on Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:41 am

Hey guys, so with the release of Thor and Captain America this years, we can expect some figures. I'm just wondering do you guys think we'll get any 6 inch figures from those lines, or if we'll even get the Iron Man 2 "Legends series" 6 inch figures ( we didn't get the walmart exclusive obviously)
Do you guys think as collectors there's anything we can do about the fact that Australia doesn't really get many figures? (ML 2 packs no where to be seen as well as later waves of MU)

It doesn't seem like Hasbro are releasing any action figures for the Thor or Captain America films in the 6" scale. They're releasing the figures in 3.75", 8", 10" and I think 12", but not in 6".

I'm read fan conjecture that Hasbro are trying to create demand for their Marvel Legend re-launch in 2012 by not releasing any 6" figures between now and then. I don't know how true that is, but it seems ridiculous for them not to make 6" figures for Thor and Captain America.

As for the 6" figures from Iron Man 2, the Marvel Legends two-packs and Marvel Universe figures, I don't think there is anything we can do. For whatever reason, Hasbro's distribution in Australia is terribly poor (much like Mattel's distribution) with random assortments showing up at random stores.

I've looked at Hasbro's online store (although I'm not even sure if they ship internationally), but they never have a great range of stock.

Cheers.

I read a email reply from hasbro to a fan who had asked about australian release for the 2 packs and here's what they said:

Thank you for your email. I do apologise for the delay in responding to your email, I needed to consult a product manager in regards to this enquiry.

We are terribly sorry that it is sometimes not possible to bring the complete range of Marvel figures into Australia. The situation to date has been that the small size of our market (from a global perspective) has prohibited us from bringing in the less desirable figures - from a regular consumer's point of view.

Unfortunately, there are no plans to release this product in Australia, and Hasbro in America do not ship overseas. I can only suggest that you find an online store that ships to an Australian address, or possibly try Ebay.

Please note that these are just suggestions to assist you. Hasbro has no affiliation with EBay, and any warranty issues with products purchased on EBay must be taken up with the seller.

Breaks my heart a little..
As for Mattel, Only DCUC's i've ever seen here, were in the comic shop in liverpool (thats what it's called lol) and once at Parramatta Myer i saw the cyborg superman.

What was ML distribution like when hasbro took over and the waves following...I kinda went on action figure hiatus for a while then.
oh, and Xenaphobia they are releasing 6 inch figures prior to 2012, the Iron Man 2 "Legends Line" and if you watch the Comic con vid, in this 6 inch Iron Man line there seems to be a new 6 inch War Machine coming out, kinda comic based..

during the transition year when toybiz lost the licence and Hasblo gained it the following year, Toybiz released plenty of product (ML 14, ML15, face off series 2, 12 inch ML figs).

however, almost none of it was released here (unless you ordered off TheGoodDr Smile ) it was mainly all dumped into the US, and when Hasblo took over, they tested series 1 in some stores then ML all but dissappeared in Australia until the first Iron Man Movie Series hit.

I really hope they bring back ML 6" at an affordable price, I really can't justify spending $18 on the MU figures. I think Hasbro killed the line solely on price here, ML jumped from around $15 to $25 and they didn't look as good.

Yeah i agree with you.
20 dollars for MU figures is way too much considering the size.
I would much rather pay 25 for a 6 inch scale figure.

They don't seem to be doing any action figures for X-men First Class.

One of the best movie assortments I saw was from a Marvel movie, the X-men 1 assortment. Not the best figures, but you got everyone along with vehicles & playsets!

I'm sure they sold miserably, but it's still the best movie range I had seen.

Was upset the X-men movie 2 assortment didn't sell well enough to get wave 2 with Lady Deathstrike. Crying or Very sad

I was holding onto that the best thing that will come out of this terrible looking X-Men movie was that we might get a 6 inch Emma Frost with a better head sculpt... Since we're not getting that i shall proceed to sulk.

Hasbro are doing X-Men First Class comic 2-Packs inside the Marvel Universe brand.

We can expect 6" Walmart exclusive figures of Thor & Cap, just like with Iron Man 6".

I don't think so. Would be good if Hasbro did a line ala X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Comic/Movie versions) but with better sculpts. Sadly I'm sure it would cost them too much. Iron Man/Thor/Captain America are more or less the same sculpt over and over with different accessories and paint applications.

I think there is a (Comic) X-Men: First Class Wolverine/Sabertooth 2-Pack aswell.

I guess cause TF and Star Wars has a broad market, kids buy those figures as opposed to Marvel which is a "collectors" market.
