Re: X-Men first class

After the director's comments that it will appeal to Twilight fans, I have even less interest in this film than I did before (and my interest was already pretty low after the terrible photo-shopped images were leaked and then officially released by Fox).

But, I'll still be paying an extraordinary amount for a movie ticket to see the film. I can't help but hope that Bryan Singer managed to re-create some of the magic of X-Men and X-Men 2 with this film, even though he's only the executive producer. Plus, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender should be able to do something ... tolerable with even the worst script.

Cheers.

I'm treating this as a reboot otherwise the whole Havok being older than Cyclops but younger than Charles is going to annoy the crap out of me. LOL, I better not see a Wolverine cameo or reference.

Doesn't really work very well considering the movies are hardly 5 minutes old and now we have entirely new everything/one. The only thing I'm liking at this stage is that Rose Byrne is slowly creeping further into bigger roles.

Comment from director Matthew Vaughn

The best way of describing it is X-Men meets Bond, with a little bit of Thirteen Days thrown in for good measure. Its set in the 60s, and I basically molded a young Magneto on a young Sean Connery. Hes the ultimate spy imagine Bond, but with superpowers."

All these reboots and remakes are giving me the s***s - can't any one make an original movie anymore??

Word has it that McKellan, Stewart and Jackman all have cameos lined up, though there are conflicted reports about whether McKellan and/or Stewart are vocal/narration or whether they introduce or bookend the film in some way.

Of course even if such things are true, it should also be noted that just because a cameo is filmed that doesn't guarantee that it will be used. Though given Fox is also making another Wolverine movie I'd be amazed if Jackman didn't make the cut and cameo in some capacity...

Isn't this the "early" years of the X-men? Thus younger versions of Prof. X/Magneto and set in the 60's? (Which would explain the Bond reference) I have a funny feeling this is going to be a dark horse. It isn't a reboot, it's a prequel. You can't judge a movie on a leaked photo.
And isn't this the writer/director team of the fantastic "Kick-Ass"? Do you think Fassbender and McAvoy would choose to be in a potentially bad movie? I do understand it is a FOX release though.
I don't mind any liberties taken from "canon" storylines as long as it makes a great movie. I don't know about you guys but... what more could you possibly want?

Love Jackman. Just tired of Wolverine.

I think it looks really cool, and they are onto something with setting it in another era, I really wish they kept Emma out of it though (although she looks hot I really hate that character)

I don't know if I'm excatly sold yet, but it's certainly an interesting trailer...

I give them some props for trying something new at least. Then again setting their flicks in the past seems to be the new Marvel movie trend.

Cap in the 40's, X-Men in the 60's, and Wolverine following the japan storyline for the next film, Marvel really do seem to be painting the wider universe with their films of late, which is no bad thing at all...

Funny reading all of the posts on page 1....started by me not even knowing this this was being made.......

GO SEE THIS MOVIE.....Big call coming but this is the best X-men movie so far.....will wait for a few more people to see it to discuss things but this was great......lots of cool name drops and links between characters, excellent origin movie....

my only complaint.....no Stan Lee Cameo (though his one in Thor should count for 2)

Nothing after the credits so don't bother hanging around
go see it

I loved it, it was fantastic to see that the franchise holds well without all the big names.
And I LOVED the bar scene. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Didnt need the F bomb I thought, I just wanted it to keep going.
The take on the young Charles was great along with the jokes about going bald, the whole thing was just all sorts of awesome.
Fassbender was fantastic, I enjoyed his magneto more than McKellans
The way he manipulated Mistique to his side of thinking was great.
I really do hope they make more of these, just with a few more mutants

I thought the f bomb was perfect, for the fact in any other x-movie he hasn't used it, he's in this for 10 seconds and he tells them what he really thinks straight up, awesome I thought!

I thought it was awesome, you really have to leave your x-men knowledge at the door though because they take a few liberties with the history (but what else is new with comic book movies), I was surprised with the F bomb, although I thought it was great but I can see that scene giving it a higher rating than it needs (or simply edited / cut out).
