Dude looks even more puny than Tobey Maguire before he beefed up during Spidey 1.

Which is good.

Spidey is supposed to look scrawny.

I had to look up who Mr Garfield was, then found out he was in an English show called 'Sugar Rush' which made me giggle, it's a Lesbian romantic drama thingy...good to see he went from useless boy next door to Spidey fairly quickly!

Re: Spider-man

Not too bad. It's hard to judge the picture too harshly given it's not the "clean" costume and it's unclear how many of the details are supposed to be "battle-damage" and how many are actually part of the new costume (for example, the belt which seems to have been removed judging from the tiniest bit of red on Spidey's left hip).

I really liked the costume from the Raimi films, so I'm glad that they haven't deviated from that basic concept too much. Although the "highlights" on the inside of each wrist seem to indicate possible web-shooters.

Re: Captain America

Not too bad. My only quibble would be that it appears both too loose and too padded. Chris Evans really packed on the muscle for the role (judging from the pics of Captain America in civilian gear) and it's weird that they haven't capitalised on his added mass by putting him in a more fitted costume.

Of course, one area seems to be far too fitted. I'm guessing Captain America finds men dressed as Snake Eyes from GI Joe very arousing.

Cheers.

Cap: Well the pic must be from WWII hence trying to look a bit more appropriate for that time. I am sure that the modern one will be more the costume we know. Good to see the wings on his helmut.
Spidey, pic looks good but I am not a fan of the reboot but with the third movie making me cringe maybe best to start fresh.

The less we talk about Spidey 3 the better - I remember watching it with TheGoodDr at the cinema, talk about being shanked in the guts.

Garfield definitely looks the part and fits the build as a teenage PP/Ultimate Spider-Man. I think his full head of hair (damn him) and the suit modifications add to his very trim look. I liked the idea of organic web shooters but prefer the mechanical ones since it reminds us of PP's smarts.

As for Captain America, well I'm a huge Captain America fan and can only hope this movie is better than the last one - *sigh* Cap was such a d*ick in that movie and the rubber wings were terrible. Hopefully the movie isn't some camp romp through the woods.

I saw Spider-Man 3 in Haymarket with a lovely couple who didn't speak english who proceeded to translate the whole entire movie right next to me. From what I remember Topher Grace would have to be the worst candidate for Eddie Brock they could have picked... and Peter Parker's hair-do... that strange emo hair-do.
Venom should not have been introduced. How many "great" 3rd parts to trilogies are there anyway?

Ok:

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
Back to the Future Part III
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Austin Powers in Goldmember
Blade: Trinity (I liked it...)
The Bourne Ultimatum
LotR: Return of the King
Toy Story 3
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest

hehe, sorry - I had to do it, it was too good an opportunity Wink

In comparison to the 2 movies that came before? Really? Razz
My bad I should have been more specific.
Return Of The King and Bourne Ultimatum for sure!
Goldfinger and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly are up there too.

Part 1 generally sets things up.
Part 2 turns things on it's head and brings the good stuff.
Part 3 (IMO) normally just bookends things.

I have faith in Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises though.

yeah that's my concern with churning out a spidey movie every 4 yrs...yes it will make money but as soon as they do one the quality of daredevil/fantastic 4 (even though I liked those) they'll get slammed.....

Both those franchises are FOX produced. I think they got lucky with X-Men and scrambled to repeat the success. Love him or hate him, if it wasn't for Bryan Singer I highly doubt it would have played out the way it did.
Spider-Man is Sony's baby... they won't let that fall to the wayside. Spider-Man 3 was (IMO) the worst of the 3 aswell but made more than the 2 previous ones.
If there was a formula for grabbing certain demographics in comicbook/superhero movies all the big 5 distributors would be doing it. FOX unfortunately never learns.
It's looking like MARVEL are heading down the same road too.
Then again you can't rest multiple franchises on one man either. Christopher Nolan can't do everything.
