cheap ikea detolf display cases

Post by Mahzian on Sat Oct 09, 2010 5:57 pm

Hi guys, thought I would share this as it was news to me, if you join up to become an ikea family member (free) you can purchase the detolf glass cabinets for $100 (normally $150), they are pretty sweet for displaying figures / statues Smile

I'd love a couple of detolfs, unfortunately no ikeas in tassie, and they don't deliver nationwide...they do display very nice though, especially for statues and the like. And that's a damn good find as far as getting a discount goes too. I'm sure it'll help someone out. thumbs up1

No worries dude, I just noticed that this special seems to only be for the "beech effect" version so depending on your currently furniture may not be desirable (I think the black/brown looks better imo)

Went to register today....damn WA and SA Ikea stores and franchised owned and as such doesn't recognise "Ikea Family". I figured I go there today anyways to buy one.......cost me $169.00!!!! We don't even get to pay the 'normal' Ikea price for these! Sad

Us WA folk have got too much bling that's why - you should check the GoodDr's pimp'n grill. I remember the glass Detolf cabinets were retailing for $99 at one stage.

I've noticed that the Detolf display cases are often on sale at Ikea.

I think I've seen them down to $70.00 at one point (in Brisbane, QLD).

Cheers.

They jack the price up as a protest against the state voting against daylight savings.

I thought it was because they liked boxers not briefs over there ?

*I could be wrong though *

BUT.

seriously ? 70bucks???? MAN why cant canberra have an ikea!!

So what i want now, is that everyone who has an ikea cabinet, to post a pic in this thread just to show off whatever awesomeness they have!!

I'll do it once I actually GET one, but it could be a while away....!!

That'sa great idea Sam. I've actually taken my Detolf down to a local cabinet maker to 'trick out' so that it matches the other furniture I have in my home theartre (the TV and HiFi cabinets). I'll post some picks in about three weeks time when I get it back Smile
