MOTU Classics: The Thread - Part 3

Post by Sledge Hammer! on Thu Sep 30, 2010 7:50 am

Latest pics:

Shadow Beast
real name: varies

Great ape-like beasts who live in tribes throughout the dark hemisphere. Shadow Beasts can only come out in the absense of light. Originally created by Count Marzo, as a weapon to use against his enemies, the beasts were driven back by Prince Keldor and Randor and forced to reside in the shadow of Mount Barathrum.
There they developed a long standing hatred of both the Human and Gar race. Easily manipulated, the ever growing colony of Beasts was later controlled by Beast Man in the service of Skeletor to take down Eternos Palace. With their great strength and stealth-like appearance, Shadow Beasts are more than a match for most heroic warriors!

DC vs MOTU 2 packs:

The fact that these sets come with new 'vs' artwork posters featuring the characters in each set is a nice bonus too, although there's some...interesting colour choices in that artwork.

i'm tempted to get that merman / aquaman 2 pack because I need the short hair version of arthur and that might be cheaper than getting the original! Is it just me or does that merman look rather blue though?

He's supposed to be blue, it's based on the original minicomics look:

Two-packs look great. I wish they were available in Australia.

Depending upon who is in the next assortment of two-packs, I might have to break down and use EVil-Bay to grab some of the two-packs.

Cheers.

There are a number of US based sellers on He-Man.org that will sell you these with little to no mark-up... just fans who want to help other fans out. All Aussies should consider building relationships with these people, Ebay is not the only option.

Maybe when the 2 packs are released we could do a bulk order for them, maybe Octane could help out if they are in abundance this time! Wink

Re: d*r*j*'s post

Thanks for the info. I'll be keeping on eye on gofigure's thread in the he-man.org MOTUC marketplace forum from now on.

Do you know how much the seller normally charges to ship a single figure to Australia? I find that shipping is often prohibitively expensive from the US.

Cheers.

Love that Shadow Beast. Mer-man looks really cool in blue.

The perch is the only thing of interest to me in the second weapons pack. Undecided on that one.

A single figure is $14.20 first class. That is untracked. I also pay the paypal fees when I pay as a gift. I wear the risk if it gets lost in the mail etc... but I have ordered 4 times from this seller and so far so good. My last order was 4 loose figures and cost around $17.

Post by Matty in relation to Cyber-Monday sale:

Toy Fans,

When you’re too stuffed to get out to the stores, where better to shop than from the comfort of your computer? My biggest sale ever starts Monday, November 29th at 9 AM Pacific (Noon Eastern) and ends on Sunday December 5th at 11:59 PM Pacific (2:59 AM Eastern)!

We’ll have a total of 21 products ready and waiting to go home with you. Are these sloppy seconds that didn’t sell the first time? No! They’re delicious leftovers from customer service stock that were held back for returns and damages. However, because they’re leftover stock, that means quantities are EXTREMELY limited in many cases. If there’s something you missed out on before that you want, don’t wait. This could be a last-chance deal so get ‘em while you can!

So what are the 21 products? Well, I can’t spill all the details right off the bat, but I will tell you these three to start. They’re all from the second run (first time for Battle Cat®!), so they have “The Original” burst on the package.

* MOTUC He-Man®
* MOTUC Skeletor®
* MOTUC Battle Cat®

Then, each week over the next 5 weeks, I’ll reveal more products:

* October 14th – 3 more products revealed
* October 21st – 3 more products revealed
* October 28th – 4 more products revealed
* November 4th – 4 more products revealed
* November 11th – final 4 products revealed

But hang on, there’s even MORE big news… on Monday, November 29th ONLY from 9 AM Pacific (Noon Eastern) till 11:59 PM Pacific (2:59 AM Eastern), we’ll give you 10% off the total price of any order over $100, excluding taxes and fees! All products must be purchased during the same transaction and shipped to a single address so not only will you save on products, you’ll save on shipping, too!

Speaking of saving, if you’ve still got a coupon for $8 off the purchase of a Battle Cat® figure this is your last chance to use it. Please note that you’ll need to have the original coupon code to take advantage of this offer.

So remember… the sale is on for one week only from Monday, November 29th through Sunday, December 5th, with November 29th being your super savings day. This is the perfect chance to get all your holiday shopping done for the toy fans in your life – and get a little something (or a lot of little somethings) for yourself!

— Matty

I predict that the server is going to melt during this sale...and for that no one will be giving thanks. Laughing

"When you’re too stuffed to get out to the stores".

Or when the products aren't available in stores.

Looking forward to hearing what the other releases are. If they're good, I'll try to get a bundle of items including Battle Cat, but if I can't get everything I'm after I think I'll give it a miss. And given the sell-out rates for full shipments, I can only imagine that the customer service stock will be gone in seconds instead of minutes.

Cheers.

Re: MOTU Classics: The Thread - Part 3

Post by Sledge Hammer! on Fri Oct 08, 2010 5:02 pm

Well apparently He-Man, Skeletor and Battle Cat are all new runs, however many (all?) of the rest of the items will be CS holdbacks.

Wonder if they've found any bronze grayskulls, that's all I need now to complete my collection... Probably doesn't matter even if they did, as they probably wouldn't ship him internationally anyways.

Actually that makes me wonder, what would they do with their CS holdback stock for Wun-Dar? I can't see them destroying any such left overs, but selling them would likely cause a bit of an uproar amongst some quarters...

They already said that would defeat the purpose of the sub only fig, I'd be interested in stands if they sell them but none of the others, I have a bc code if anyone is trying for him, I forgot to use mine....
