Carrie Fisher - Wishful Drinking

Post by TheGoodDr on Thu Sep 30, 2010 11:49 am

Just got me some tickets to Carrie Fisher's show (performing mid November here in Perth).....really looking forward to seeing it. Never thought in a million years that I'd get to see an OT actor here in WA. As a kid I used to think that Princess Leia was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen! Wink

So jealous! She's in Sydney mid-week in Oct some time and because of lamo work I can't go (massively sadpanda). When you get back from the show you have to go into incredibly fine detail in your review Razz

Damn, I missed it! I'll have to catch up online.

I tried to get Wed off to go see her but conveniently the butt heads haven't deemed me important enough to even give me a response.

If that's the case TST, then maybe you should assume that you're not important enough to be missed if you take off? Very Happy

Just re-read my post, and wanted to clarify TST, that I wasn't trying to be mean, more having a go at the dunderheads you work for.

Haha no worries simmo, I got you. For some reason this thread didn't come up in my notices yesterday when I jumped online.
Anyway, as it turns out, I went to work and was really pissed off about it all. Spoke to some of the managers and the leave request system is apparently a big piece of crap and my manager never got the notice (plus his emails haven't been working). So after starting work at 2pm, I left at 4:30pm and high-tailed it back home.
By 5pm I had a ticket, by 7pm I was at the Galeries Victoria having dinner and at 8pm I was sitting in my almost-back-row-seat at the State Theatre.

All I can say is, aside from poor viewing that meant I almost couldn't make out her face, I'm glad I went to all the trouble.

I gathered afterwards with some other fans at the stage door, though unfortunately Carrie jumped straight into her waiting car and apologised for not sticking around - she had to 'go to her Birthday party'.
It was good to be able to see her up close though. Smile

Very Happy If I'd have known you were looking at last minute tickets TST, I probably could have organised better ones for you, give I used to be the box office manager there!

Haha I had about 3 seconds in which to get myself organised once I got home before leaving again - thanks anyway!
