^^^^

You forgot the SEX SCENES!

I'm looking forward to seeing how badly Go! butcher it. Then again, they didn't butcher the quasi-soft-core-gay-porn Dante's Cove (although they later got in trouble for not editing enough).

Cheers.

Well there were sex scenes but no bare boobs :-(
They must have dubbed Frick over most of the swearing.
There was blood but no guts.
Otherwise very enjoyable. Visually and direction wise they obviously copied 300 with all those pausing slow mo bits in the fight scenes.
Its better then most things on over on free to air at the moment.

So was it heavily edited? I watched it and didn't think much of the fight scenes compared to what ive read about it, can you buy the full version dvds at all?

Wow. VERY PG!

Bit of a shame for the Aussie fans who don't like to flout the law.

It's interesting to watch, but I much prefer the "real" version and I'm looking forward to buying the Blu-Ray and re-watching the entire series again.

Cheers.

Jeez, that was some of the worst blue/green screening I've seen since V.

pale

If you can't do better than that, then best not to do it at all IMHO... thumbs down

Now HERE is some decent TV compositing:

I just watched this lot again and for the life of me I cannot see how they can screen the final episode so it makes any sort of sense being tamed down

I watched part of an episode just out of curiosity, and the amount cut out of it was just mind boggling, so yeah, how they can possibly show the last couple of episodes and have them make any sort of sense is frankly pretty baffling.

It's a crime what they've done to Spartacus!

I can't believe Starz would sell this PG crap to international markets! It's disrespectful to the creators who Starz encouraged to push the envelope, but then decided that the bloody, sexy, naked version of the envelope had to be tamed in order to make more money.

Thank Jupiter's "crotch" for the blu-ray version which will have content that even Starz didn't want to screen.

Cheers.

Unfortunately news released yesterday that Spartacus star Andy Whitfield's cancer has returned, and he has had to step aside from the series as he returns to treatment.

Starz has not yet revealed what their plans are for season 2, which was about to start shooting soon, whether they will go ahead with the show, and rewrite or recast, or whether they will delay or even pull the show...after all losing the star of the show is a big thing indeed. I imagine there's some pretty frantic meetings right about now.

Personally I hope they make another mini season for next year (after the prequel mini that is set to air in January), maybe focus on the growing legend of the free Spartacus, without actually showing him, and further delay the planned season two arc in the hopes that Whitfield can finally beat this thing, and once better, can then return to the show.

Either way I wish the guy all the best, facing cancer is hard enough, but as an actor who finally got his breakthrough role, the added thought of posibly losing that role now even if he (hopefully) does recover must be doubly gutting...

Poor guy.

Hopefully the second round of treatment is successful.

I'd happily watch a Spartacus-free second season if it meant Andy Whitfield could remain in the role, but even with the prequel, I'm not sure how long Starz can market a show called "Spartacus" without the title character on-screen.

Cheers.
