Dr. Who figure sightings 24 June 2010: Matt Smith & John Pertwee

Post by adamatsya on Thu Jun 24, 2010 9:04 am

I was just down at Minotaur Comics in Melbourne and they had a shelf-ful (a dozen or more) of the 11th doctor Crash two-pack with Matt Smith's Doctor in his standard pink shirt outfit and in the torn up shirt and tie from his first episode for $29.99.

I'd just been down to the GPO Centre's ABC shop to pick up the same figs for $34.99, which I'd seen online last night - they had four on the pegs - so I picked up one from minotaur and took back the ABC Shop one for a refund.

Minotaur also had two John Pertwee figures on shelf - one with the Dalek and one with the Sea Devil - for $89. Not such a good buy.

Thought you guys might like to know.

Jeebers, Minotaur know how to milk their customers eh? I'm in the UK and just got the 11 Doctors set for 50 pounds (about $85) which includes a decent Pertwee figure (naturally) and free postage (to UK only, unfortunately). I've seen the crash set on special at Sainsbury's (a UK supermarket chain) for about 12 pounds, but I don't like Matt Smith, so passed. Have also seen the latest wave of figures on special for 7 pounds each, including Amy Pond and the new Daleks. Passed on them too. When back home I find it cheaper to buy Dr Who figs from UK sellers on eBay. Postage isn't as pricey as from the USA either.

The Mr Toys Toyworld in Queen Street Mall (Brisbane, Queensland) has stock of the 11 Doctors boxed set, the 5th Doctor and Master two-pack, the Cyberman two-pack and I think one or two of the other more recent releases.

They still have limited stock of the first series of "season 5" figures, although I didn't see any Amy figures.

They're all the usual high prices.

Cheers.

Saw a Doctors set on eBay for about $140 + postage. I'd imagine Minotaur are charging a lot more than that?

If anyone notices the new Tardis interior playset around please let me know. I am not sure if it has seen wide release yet. It is the Matt Smith version.

^^^^

Are you a member of the gallifreybase forums Artistix? The Aussies on those forums seem to have a good system set up with UK fans for a variety of Dr Who products, although I think I've read that the box is too big to be sent by air-mail (so you'd either need to go by boat or ask someone in the UK to repackage the TARDIS).

All that typed, we seem to be getting most of the Dr Who items, so the TARDIS playset may show up down under.

Cheers.

Scrap the above, you can buy the TARDIS playset from Popcultcha for $100.00:

I've read that they're only charging $6.00 for postage, although that seems far too good to be true.

Saw the "build a crappy looking Pandorica" wave at Mr Toys Toyworld - Queen Street Mall, Brisbane, Queensland today including Stripper Amy.

They also had one of the other recent waves with a variety of coloured Daleks and the TARDIS with the Doctor and Stripper Amy.

Cheers.

Puh-lease! Kiss-o-gram is just the polite English way of saying stripper.

It's still a step-up from Donna (who was unemployed) and Rose (who was a shop assistant). Even though Martha might have been a medical student, she didn't really do much with all her knowledge.

At least Amy's stripper moves will save the day if the Doctor ever has to battle pole-shaped aliens.

Cheers.

The 11 Doctors box set is currently available for $40.00 at ozgameshop.com.

If you use the special Halloween code HAL666, you also get a $6.66 discount which brings it down to $33.33 with free shipping.
