*sigh*

Another game I'll have to import (if the reviews are good) and hope doesn't get stopped by customs (always been lucky so far)...

After watching that video I don't know if I'm sold on the whole going back to a 2d plane thing, but apart from that, looks good.

Actually, the fine for being caught trying to import a copy of Mortal Kombat is triple it's price, or $110,000, WHICHEVER IS HIGHEST.

In other words, the MINIMUM fine for importing MK is AU$110,000.

I kid you not.

The Customs spokesperson said someone caught trying to import RCed games into Australia could expect a fine of up to three times the value of the product, or A$110,000, which ever is greater.

The punishment for attempting to import illegal weapons is less. Again, no joke.

Unless laws have radically changed, that only applies to distributors, retailers, and those attempting to import multiple copies for illegal resale, not individuals importing single copies for personal use. For individuals importing single copies of RC material, the penalty is generally just a warning and confiscation, however a fine can be applied, at custom's discretion, and can be anything up to triple the cost of the item's worth, again as determined by customs.

This was either misquoted, laws have suddenly changed, or else someone is trying to blur the truth in order to scare people away from the thought of importing to begin with. And the more they manage to scare potential importers away from doing so, the more that their job made easier.

You also have to be pretty unlucky to be caught, personally I'd wait a couple of months, until all the hooplah has died down, and to avoid any custom blitzes looking for such imports, and just import it then.

Sad thing is, all this will really do is promote illegal downloading and piracy, if people can't buy locally, and can't, or don't dare to, import it either.

WTF! The amount of red tape these days is insane. I remember the time when you could do whatever you wanted as long as you weren't hurting someone or someone's property ... ahh how I miss those days.

Would be interested in reading the details a little further to confirm whether this crappy fine is for your average punter off the street or for a shop trying to bring in multiple copies. Sounds very harsh if the former is getting the same treatment as a commercial outlet.

The unedited version may see the light of day here in a year or two with the big news about the Federal Government forcing the State Government's hand.

I honestly believe customs wil be too busy searching for more important things - drugs, guns, food, wooden wind chimes etc. I remember customs were supposed to scan hard drives etc for illegal content but that got skilted pretty quickly.

I'll wait a couple of months after release, then ask an internationa friend to send me a copy, all the while giving a big finger to the government trying to tell me Violence and porn on DVD is ok, but not in my video games.

I wonder what customs would do if you got the disk shipped in another sealed game, and then got the packaging seperately afterwards?

Probably seize the dang packet. Sad

I'll do it for PS3 (how are you 360-only owners going to manage this? It looks like that version will be region locked)

www.fishpond.com.au had the tournament stick up for grabs, might be worth a lookin for xbox owners? The ps3 has sold out however, last time I checked that is.

This game is pretty much everything I want it to be IMO.

Loving the tower....I'm over 200 ..it will be interesting to see that stats at the end....plenty of retries required....#185 VS Sheeva/goro/kintaro was tough.... I'm prob 15 matches into the story line and liking that so far. Great game, will take a bit of time to learn the moves that have been rearranged........Still can remember just about all of them from MK3 (livin in the past man)

Big thanks to a certain Admin who risked his freedom smuggling in a copy "upon his person"
