Action Figure Collecting Databse

Post by diabolikprime on Tue May 04, 2010 9:43 am

Hi there everyone!
This might seem like a silly question but does anyone know of a decent action figure collecting software?
I have tried looking everywhere but each one looks either tacky or lacks something.
I was looking for something along the lines of the Collectorz.com music/movies/photos etc software or anything remotely similar.
I'm sure this question has already been answered a million times over (I did a search here before I did anything, found nothing), any help would be great.

"Keep it foolish."

Are you looking for a pre-existing database or one you do yourself?

Thinking about it, the collectorz comics database could work fine. You could just create your own "series" of figures, much like a comic series, and then upload your own photos etc.

I have tried with the photo Collectorz.com database and it's not bad but not great either.
I will give the comics one a go and see what it looks like.
I have a very simple one that I made with Microsoft Works but I just like to see pictures aswell/have search engine/filters etc.

Cheers Simmo.

That's actually a really good idea - might be worth someone's time to do for collectors...

If I didn't hate Access (and therefore database creation in general) so much and also never finish pretty much everything, I'd be all over this.

I have asked Collectorz.com personally to no avail.
They make my eyes rain.

I found a basic collecting inventory called Messless Collector that is pretty similar to Collectorz but with statistics/pie charts and other cool stuff.
I gonna bust open all my boxes of booty and photograph the lot!

Not so much a database, but 3 sites come to mind:

www.action-figures.ca (also has a forum and online store)
www.virtualtoychest.com
www.dukenostalgia.com

For Transformers www.tfu.info
For M.A.S.K. www.albertpenello.com/mask/

I was listing preexisting comprehensive toyline database sites as a good source for cataloging what people do and do not have. tfu.info is in and of itself one big Transformers toy database.

In terms of databases though, Access and Excel would be the best bet, as it's a simple matter of a checklist and going from there.

You might want to edit the link, bowspearer. I'm assuming it's supposed to be "www.tfu.info" because currently its a dead link.
