Ratings question..

Post by Dabigfella on Mon May 03, 2010 9:09 pm

Not sure if anyone knows, but have the Aus ratings changed much over the years? I had a copy of Total Recall on VHS i bought in 91-92 from memory, which was R-18+, and all i can find on Blu-ray/DVD is the M-15+ rating. Has the R rating dropped over the years or is it just a case of the more graphic older movies getting watered down for re-releases?

No, they've looked at a few of the older films since DVD became such a sales phenomenon (ie, no-one used to buy VHS tapes but people would collect dvd's).

I was given the first Godfather film as a present twice, and the older copy has an R Rating, the newer MA but there are no cuts on the MA one.

& from memory there were only about 5 things in the different cuts between the two in total recall.........Blood marks on the walls after the first fight in the train station & the amount of bloody arm holding in the lift scene near the end......
