Received my re-issue Trap-Jaw (via New Zealand) and while not yet opened, he looks good (apart from a fairly obvious large spot of gold/yellow paint on his face).

I'm hopeful that there are no major issues once I free him from his plastic prison. Of course, now He-Man and his fellow warriors for good are out-numbered. Mattel will need to move forward Bow's release date so I can add another heroic warrior to the ranks.

Cheers.

Heh, spent some time this arvo with my niece & nephew (4 & 6) looking at my toy collection, then explaining why Deadpool is in my lineup of good guys, Electra is in the bad guys camp, Why He-man & Skeletor have the same sword but different colours....& whether I thought Molarr was a goodie or a baddie, and why he didn't have a sword.......and why Jigsaw was holding a gun to his own head.....the whole time saying be careful with that, maybe just leave that guy etc etc

I saw over at the Org TG is explaining the 200x business......again!

How many times is that now???

Poor TG. Always copping crap from fans for not doing this & that & then copping crap from Mattel bigwigs because he is allowing too much of this & that!

I'm sure he doesn't mind too much, he knows at the end of the day people are very happy with MOTUC. Very Happy

I received Orko today (thanks TDOS!), but I'm not exactly happy...

That's what US$25 + shipping buys from an "Adult Collector" line these days?

Yikes!

And there I was complaining about the paint-slop on the ears of my Orko!

That sucks. Well and truly sucks. Please accept my condolences.

Cheers.

My one has the bad ears, but otherwise he is in good shape. The eyes are painted much better than that pic above.

I think the only really bad figure I have received so far was my original Faker. There were scratches all over his face! I sold him & got a new one.

Wow Rob, you don't have much luck with the Classics line! The worst my Orko got was a little paint from his ears onto the hat.

Yeah, I got bad ear paint and bad eye paint on my Orko unfortunately, but that's worse than even mine...sorry bud.

There really is no excuse for this kind of thing at the premium price that these things cost. I mean clean paint apps and no breakage is a bare minimum of what collectors should be able to justifiably expect. Alas...

Mine's really good.

Got TrapJaw yesterday too...man he is awesome. He was my favourite character as a kid (hated how he was a goofy dumbass in the cartoon) and he's just so perfect. Love him love him love him.

Safe to say everyone's Orko has the hat paint on the ears then?
My Orko has the crazy/crossed eyed thing happening as well Sad
Totally agree, for a premium/collector line, sloppy paint apps like this are inexcusable.
I assume the folks at the Matty.com forum are complaining about the same thing....??

Re: MOTU Classics: The Thread - Part 2

Right, so the only extra next month is Zodak (pass). Then November we have King Grayskull v 2 (which I think I will buy, flocked coat sounds cool) & the second weapons pack...which I think I will pass on.

Then December is the Palace Guards.

Just wanted to get that sorted in my head.

For some reason I've been thinking the bonus figure this month was the Shadow Beast...I think Jor-El finally told me I was trippin'! Very Happy

So when is the Shadow Beast due? And is anyone buying more than 1?

Shadow Beast is first quarter next year I believe. I don't think a specific month has been locked down, unless I missed it.

The re-issue Battle Cat is also late this year, for those that missed out first time around. Not sure if it's in November, during that special 'cyber monday' sale, or in December though.

Shadow Beast if Feb, I think. First large scale beast of 2011.

I expect Battle Cat, Tytus, He-Man and Skeletor (and maybe possibly other re-releases) to be part of the Cyber Monday sale on Nov 29. Just get that feeling from the hints dropped so far. It's gonna be a hectic day, as I'm sure people will be grabbing all sorts of things.

Re: MOTU Classics: The Thread - Part 2

Post by DroothR on Thu Sep 16, 2010 2:21 pm

Okay, I tested the waters with a debut figure purchase on MattyCollector, to see how I fared.

I went to the Gygor page at 11:59 (US Eastern time), and shortly thereafter was transfered to the white "do not [maunally] refresh" page.

This page persisted for roughly 30 minutes, at which point I was able to add 1x Gygor to my basket, and check-out with excellent speed.

Now, this is fine for purchasing a single slow-selling item, but add multiple items, and Moss-Man/Evil-Lynn sell-out times, and I can see how rediculous it would be.

Also, I'm shocked to see Carnivus still available. Shocked

I know that there's a heavy nostaglic bent to the MotUC collector base, but Carni' really is an awesome looking figure, so I didn't think that there'd be such a drastic drop in sales.

If the figure lasts more than a day, then I could see "upper management" being less likely to give us many more 200X characters. Sad
