Importing Transformers Masterpiece Megatron?

Post by Shocka on Sat Nov 14, 2009 12:42 pm

It's been a while since I've heard anything of this, but I remember back in the day that there were some issues with Masterpiece Megatron coming into the country due to his "realistic" gun form - I have a friend who's got me one in the US, and I'm wondering if I'd have any trouble having it sent to me via post? What do people think?

It's literally a lucky dip Shocka. If it gets seized by Customs, you'll have no hope of getting it as the WA Police no longer give out replica gun clearances.

Mine got stopped by customs had a choice get a permit(gun locker required etc)or seized.End of story either crushed or some custom guys kid has a new toy. There was a pertition on another forum going around a while back but its a lucky dip for MP-05 Megs unless its in the country and your state allows you to own it.I know it transforms into a gun replica but unless some guy tryed to hold up a bank with one it was a bit of overkill.Keep your fingers crossed if you try.Cheers

What's the deal if you actually have a replica gun licence? I think my old man still has his licence.

Worth a try ring customs in your state and ask.Mention that your (dad) has a permit and he's the one buying it.

There's actually one option here. Because some states require you to be in a gun cllector's club, a couple of transformers fans started up a "Megatron Club" which at least in terms of NSW, does seem to satisfy the legislation. Not sure about WA though.

If I buy one while overseas and transform before I go home, that's fine yeah?

Saw some while I was in the Philippines last year for about $130AUD.

I was staring at them for ages until my partner said 'WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THAT THING?!'

Totally derailed my impulsive buyingness.

You'll be fine until Customs ask you if you have any prohibited items on you. If you say no and they find it in your luggage, you'll be charged with making a fasle declaration and taken into custody (and then released shortly there-after with your tail between your legs).
It is Customs who have deemed Megatron a replica weapon. You have to hope that the Customs Officer doesn't know what it is. Given the fact that Customs have a specifc brief on this item it is unlikely that they won't recognise it.
