Thinkaway's "Collectors" Toy Story Figures

Post by Xenaphobia on Tue Oct 20, 2009 2:02 pm

For all those Toy Story fans, "Toys R Us" (and only TRU as far as I have seen) have received stock of Thinkaway's "collectors edition" versions of Buzz Lightyear ($100.00), Woody ($80.00) and Rex ($80.00(?)). I didn't spot RC (the remote control car), but it's possible they did have stock and had sold out (they were sold out of Woody and only had one Rex left, but plenty of Buzz figures)

http://www.thinkwaytoys.com/MccOurToysV2b.asp?SelectMainCat=1&SelectSubCat=13

The rest of Thinkaway's Toy Story line does not appear to have been released in Australia. However, Mattel have released their own "deluxe" versions of Buzz Lightyear ($68.00) and Woody ($47.00) at Big W (and probably other places) which appear to be identical to Thinkaway's "talking" (semi-deluxe) versions, except with different packaging.

Most retailers also appear to have Mattel's 6" line of figures which prices varying between $17.00 (Big W) and $26.00 (K-Mart - although that may have changed since I first saw them).

I nabbed a Thinkaway Buzz for myself for Xmas. It's gotten rave reviews (http://mwctoys.com/REVIEW_100509a.htm) and while it is grossly over-priced compared to what those in the US are paying, it still seems like a great figure/toy/collectible all rolled into one.

Cheers.

It doesn't appear as though there are any fellow Thinkway Toy Story Collection fans on these forums, but just in case ... Target appear to have gotten in more stock of TSC Woody, Jessie and Buzz. They ALSO have received stock of TSC Mr Pricklepants! But, oddly no TSC Dolly or TSC Buttercup even though they're all part of "series/wave 3" of the TSC range.

Mr Pricklepants was $40.00. Woody and Jessie were both $80.00. I can't recall how much Buzz was, but probably at least $80.00 to $100.00.

Cheers.

Saw him at Target Bull Creek about a week or so ago if it helps.

There are unconfirmed reports of TSC Dolly also being available at Targets in Australia, although I'm yet to personally see any in store.

And further unconfirmed reports that Target plans on stocking most, if not all, TSC figures (including the rarer Rex and Bullseye) for Christmas. Again, this is just internet speculation/rumours, so it could be completely false.

Saw Bullseye at Toyworld Success for $99 for anyone hunting him, so definitely looks like restocks are around (grabbed one off the net a couple of months ago myself). Might keep an eye out for the Rex.

Parents are bringing back a Lots'o from the states for my boy (man, so cheap over there! :p).

Toy Story Collection Dolly is now in stock at Target together with the TSC Mr Pricklepants.

Still no sign of TSC Buttercup which is the final figure in the third wave/series of Toy Story Collection figures.

TSC Buttercup is now also in stock at Target, although what characters each Target has seems to vary wildly.

Of my three "local" Targets, one only has Mr Pricklepants, one has Mr P and Dolly and the other has Dolly and Buttercup.

ALSO, I'm not sure how widespread it is, but the Target I went to today had "20% off all plush" and in the "plush" aisle were TSC Buttercup, Dolly and Bullseye. With a little bit of convincing, I managed to get 20% off the RRP of Buttercup and Dolly.

Lol, I fear most Targets around here stocked Pricklepants and then didn't bother with the rest.

20% off is pretty good, brings the Panster down to a "reasonable" level ($40 is insane... does he even talk?).

How much are Dolly and BC retailing for?

Any signs of Rex being re-released (at a half decent price?).

On a side note, my parents returned from the US last week and picked up a Lotso for my son (cost them $60 there... freakin US bargains :p). He's hilarious... "I may be pink, but I feel a little... blue... inside"... "Do you know why I smell like strawberries? It's to cheer me up, when you're not around."

Lol.

$40.00 is pretty excessive, but I've come too far with my collection of "Toy Story Collection" figures to stop now.

The 20% off brings them down to a far more reasonable $31.00, which isn't too bad considering the 3.75" Green Lantern movie figures are retailing for $18.00!

All three of the new plush toys - Mr Pricklepants, Buttercup and Dolly are $39.00. So far only Target seems to be stocking them, but other stores (e.g. Myer, K-Mart and TRU) have stocked the TSC figures before.

I haven't seen any sign of a re-release of Rex, although it's always possible. I think most Toy Story fans have resorted to importing one from ... somewhere in Asia as Rex isn't currently available in Oz, US or UK.

$60.00 is pretty good for Lotso. He was only $50.00 during the July toy sales last year and was available at Big W for around $65.00 for a little while afterwards. I haven't seen any Lotso figures in stores for a long time though.

I see him occasionally at random Myer stores around Perth. Saw him at Toy World Success recently when I saw Bullseye as well. He's usually around $120+ :p

Was late to the Toy Story game... my son got Woody last year for Christmas from a friend (his 2nd Christmas). It was the Mattel one, though. He also has Buzz and Jesse (both Mattel) from his last birthday, although Jesse has disappeared somewhere :p So Lotso is the first Thinkway (Bullseye is still on top of my wardrobe, waiting for Christmas!) we've played with and he is awesome. $60 is a steal. He should never be more than about $80/$90 though. Damn Australian stores.

Pffffft. All you people buying Toy Story toys for your children.

You should be keeping them for yourselves! And allowing your children to hold them gently for up to 60 seconds at a time, provided they have washed their hands and are wearing white cotton gloves.

Dolly, Pricklepants and Buttercup are $24 now at Target. Much more sensible pricepoint compared to the original $40. Picked up Dolly and Pricklepants for my boys.

Finally rounded off the trio, picked up the lone Buttercup for $14.83 (have no idea why it's that price) at Target Bull Creek today. Couldn't leave him there to rot.

Shelf price was $17. They had two Dollys (Dollies?) as well and shelf price was $18 (but like BC may be cheaper when scanned).
